Lauren's Wish: The true heartwarming story of Mermaid Magic

03:54
Little Lauren Cosgrove was born at just 27 weeks old with several health complications. After spending the first year of her life in the hospital in Scotland where she was born, Lauren's amazing family, friends and a team of dedicated physicians saved her life. Today, Lauren is like many little girls - she loves to ride bike, she loves her siblings and is a little ray of sunshine in everyone's life she touches. Obsessed with mermaids for most of her life, Lauren has ONE wish....to meet a mermaid! In October, this wish came true thanks to the Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity. Professional Mermaid Linden Wolbert swam all the way from Los Angeles to Scotland to surprise little Lauren on the bonnie bonnie shores of Loch Lomond. The Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity relies on donations and sponsorships to makes wishes like Lauren's come true. Please visit them at: www.raysofsunshine.org.uk Mermaid Linden can be found at: www.mermaidsinmotion.com Special thanks to Deeperblue.com and Stephan & Vicky Whelan for still images and video of this magical event! The Cameron House on Loch Lomond hosted the team for this wish and could not have been more sweet and accommodating. The staff of the Loch Lomond Sea Life Aquarium believed in this wish and did everything in their power to make it possible. A sincere thanks. And most of all to Lauren: You make us all realize that wishes DO come true :) xoxoxo ~Mermaid Linden

MERMAID MINUTE #6: Barnacles are silly! Goose Neck barnacles, whale barnacles, acorn barnacles!

01:55
Barnacles are small, shelled creatures called CRUSTACEANS. They're related to crabs, lobster and shrimp. As babies, barnacles are larvae that resemble their crustacean relatives. But then as adults, they stick themselves on to hard surfaces like rocks, boats, or even a whale! They create a protective cone around them made out of calcium. That's the same thing your bones, teeth and coral reefs are made of! Barnacles' feathery little legs filter the water for food like tiny nets. They eat plankton and other small organisms that float by their home. Barnacles can spend up to half of their lives OUTSIDE of the water! Like in a tide pool, where the tide rises and falls. Gooseneck barnacles are considered a delicacy in certain parts of the world, and are actually harvested for FOOD! The do sort of look like geese! And that's a BARNACLE in a Mermaid Minute! I'm Mermaid Linden, and I'll see you next time, my little Sea Fans!! What have you always wanted to know about our oceans? Now is your chance to ask a real mermaid! MERMAID MINUTE #4: The Remora Fish, a.k.a. Sucker Fish!

01:57
Also known as the "Sucker Fish," Remoras attach themselves to larger fish and animals with a suction-cup like organ on the top of their heads! The first time I saw a remora, I thought it was a fish that an astronaut had stepped on! Look at the resemblance to a footprint on the moon! Remora fish can usually be seen hitching a ride on dolphins, whales, sea turtles and manta rays. This means they are protected from other predators and get to eat lots of scraps that fall behind after their host has eaten a meal. With their flat head, the remora kind of look like they're swimming upside-down. Silly little fish! Hundreds of years ago, it was believed that if a remora stuck onto your boat, it was bad luck- and it would no longer sail. One time when I was swimming in the Caribbean, a Remora tried to stick onto my tail! He was so cute, that I named him Romeo Remora! What have you always wanted to know about our oceans? Now is your chance to ask a real mermaid! SUBSCRIBE below or at the end of the video to receive updates with each new episode release, or ask Mermaid Linden a QUESTION in the COMMENTS window! The Mermaid & the Sea Turtles – A True Story by Mermaid Linden

03:12
One day, Mermaid Linden was swimming to her favorite cove on a remote island in the Caribbean to visit her sea turtle friends. When she arrives at this tropical paradise, she does not find what she expects...... Instagram: @mermaidlinden www.instagram.com/mermaidlinden Google+: +MermaidLinden Twitter: @mermaidsnmotion Facebook: www.facebook.com/mermaidsinmotion Did you know? Plastic pollution in our oceans is one of the most serious threats to sea life, including our beloved sea turtles? A recent study tells us that over half of the sea turtles in our world’s oceans have consumed or swallowed plastic....this can be fatal to the precious few sea turtles we have left. But there is hope! YOU CAN BE THE DIFFERENCE by saying NO to single-use plastics in your every day life: ~ Choose a canvas bag for your groceries and say no to plastic at the check out. ~ Say NO THANKS to plastic straws when you go out to eat or drink. ~ Use a water canteen made from stainless steel and fill it up each day at the tap (cleaner than bottled water in many cases!) instead of using single-use plastic water bottles. ~ Use wooden matches instead of plastic lighters. ~ Buy recyclable toothbrushes (available almost everywhere!) and use the easy mail-in recycling program to reduce waste when they wear out. ~ Use real silverware or compostable cutlery instead of plastic single-use utensils whenever possible. - If you have the option, always use PAPER or GLASS instead of plastic ☺ If everyone does this, our oceans and all of the creatures in it will be much happier and healthier! Check out this great film to help you learn more about plastic pollution with my friend Angela Sun: www.plasticparadisemovie.com An ocean of love to all of my sea fans for sharing this important message far and wide! How to make a DIY Swimmable Mermaid Tail! Inexpensive - NO SEW! Kids Birthday or Christmas gift!

05:00
You've always wanted a swimmable mermaid tail, but they’re too expensive or you don’t sew! Save money, time and energy and MAKE one for Birthdays or Holidays with this FUN 5-minute long tutorial! SUBSCRIBE for more awesome MERMAID videos! REMEMBER: Never swim alone. Always swim with a lifeguard or adult watching you. SAFETY FIRST! All you need are six items! MONOFIN: http://amzn.to/1LOcfZq 4-WAY STRETCH LYCRA: http://bit.ly/1hWzeoY SCISSORS: http://amzn.to/1LpwaME WASHABLE MARKER: http://amzn.to/1GjJgwc YARD STICK: http://amzn.to/1ZZQ6NQ PAPER FOR TRACING: http://amzn.to/1GW2Hpv Be sure to pause the video as you go through the steps as you need to. We recommend watching it the whole way through first, and then making your tail once you gather your items to make it! It’s super FAST and EASY to make your own beautiful, SWIMMABLE mermaid tail with this simple technique, which I learned about from two of my amazing little sea fans on Instagram, Annie and Kate! Thanks, girls!! Let’s get started! All you need to make your tail is: 1) A Mermaid Linden by Body Glove Monofin ☺ 2) 2 yards of at least 40” wide 4-way stretch lycra swimming fabric in any color you wish 3) Simple wrapping paper 4) A washable marker (you can borrow one from the kids!) 5) A yard stick or long ruler The monofins can be found on Amazon Prime for as little as $26 dollars with FREE 2-day shipping! They fit from junior sizes all the way up to a women’s size 8!!! believe it or not, with the foam inserts removed and the straps fully extended. FUN! Lycra fabric can also be found online by the yard, very inexpensively! Make sure you order 4- WAY STRETCH lycra which measures at least 40” WIDE by 2 yards long so it’s at least twice the width of your monofin at the widest point, and long enough for your little mermaid or merman’s legs plus the monofin. There are hundreds of colors, patterns and even hologram and metallic lycras to choose from. HAVE FUN and find the one that you LOVE! STEP ONE: Make your pattern. - Roll out your wrapping paper on the floor. - Have your future mermaid or merman lay on the paper with their toes pointed. - Trace your model from their belly button down around their pointed toes all the way around. - Now line up the toes of your monofin footpockets with the traced toes of your model. - Trace around the monofin to complete your outline! - Now cut out the outline to make your pattern ☺ STEP 2: Create your outline - Take your 2 yards of fabric and fold it in half the long way, putting the “pretty” side of the fabric inward, so you are seeing the “back” of the fabric. - Place your pattern on top of the fabric, leaving plenty of extra fabric below the fluke to play and be creative with later - NOW trace your pattern on the fabric with your washable marker, marking 2 inches BEYOND the actual pattern, leaving 2 inches of fabric for you to knot later. STEP 3: Mark your lines and cut your shape - Using your yard stick or a long straight edge, begin marking horizontal lines ONE INCH APART all the way down your tail, making sure the lines are as straight across as possible. - Now cut out your tail carefully following the outside line, making sure the two pieces of fabric stay together. STEP 4: Cut your fringes - Now cut all of the lines, all the way down both sides, leaving the bottom open and flat so you have extra fabric to play with later ☺ - Next, flip your fabric so the “pretty side” is facing out, and line up your fringes STEP 5: Tie your knots! - Here comes the fun part: Line up your fringes, and tie square knots all the way down. A square knot is just like the first step of tying your shoe laces, only twice. Right over left, then left over right. The most basic of knots ☺ STEP 6: Design your fluke - Once you finish knotting, your tail is almost complete! All you have to do now is decide how you’d like to finish your fluke, or the bottom where the monofin slides in. We recommend leaving the bottom open so your mermaid or merman can easily slip the tail off if need be, and to give it a fun, flowy look! You can cut fringes at the bottom, you can add knots if you want it tied off, you can leave your monofin fluke tips hanging out because they look really cool, or you can go crazy and add fun trailing fabric in a different color. Be creative....make it your own unique design! STEP 7: Try on your tail - Have your model be dazed, glazed and amazed as they try on their tail for the first time! We recommend always sitting down when in the tail if you aren’t in the pool so you don’t trip or fall. NEVER SWIM ALONE or without a lifeguard or parent watching your little merperson. HAVE FUN and email pictures or videos of your DIY mermaid tail to info@mermaidsinmotion.com and you could be featured on the Mermaid Linden channel!

MERMAID MINUTE #17: GARIBALDI FISH with Mermaid Linden - For Kids - Meet a Real Mermaid!

02:17
Hi, Sea Fans! Thanks for watching Mermaid Linden's Mermaid Minute Episode #17: GARIBALDI FISH! :) Please SUBSCRIBE so you always know about my NEW VIDEOS! Mermaid Minute is my ocean educational series for kids of all ages. My wish is to provide free ocean "edutainment" for anyone with access to a computer :) Let's learn about GARIBALDI FISH!! * The Garibaldi is the California State Marine Fish whose name comes from the Italian Patriot, Giuseppe Garibaldi, who wore bright red shirts. * Garibaldis only live from the California coast and down into Baja. * The Garibaldi is related to the damselfish and is the largest fish in the family at 15 inches. * Juveniles has brilliant blue spots that fade, and eventually as adults they're bright orange, with a tail shaped like a heart! * Their menu is small worms, anemones, nidibranchs and sea stars, to name a few. * Once a Garibaldi finds a reef, they live there for the rest of their lives, and they are known to bite and chase anything that gets too close to their nests! * A male Garibaldi cleans the reef to create a perfect nest for up to 20 females to lay eggs. * For the next several months, he will do his best to attract females by swimming in loops, and making noises with the teeth in his throat. * You know, Garibaldis remind me of those orange fish crackers, come to life! And that's a GARIBALDI in a MERMAID MINUTE! MERMAID MINUTE #16: PARROTFISH with Mermaid Linden - For Kids - Meet a Real Mermaid!

02:19
Hi, Sea Fans! Thanks for watching Mermaid Minute Episode #16: PARROTFISH! :) Please SUBSCRIBE so you always know about my WEEKLY VIDEOS! Mermaid Minute is my ocean educational series for kids of all ages. My wish is to provide free ocean "edutainment" for anyone with access to a computer :) Let's learn about PARROTFISH! * Parrotfish get their name thanks to their beak-shaped mouth that look like a parrot's face and their beautiful, bright colors. * The largest species in the family is the bumphead parrotfish at over four feet in length and 100 pounds in weight * When the sun goes down, some species of parrotfish surround their bodies with a self made bubble of mucus as a sleeping bag! This prevents parasites and predators from finding them while they catch some Z’s J * Nearly all parrotfish are born as females, but they can change gender. * While the dominant male parrotfish in a group is gone, the group's largest female will change into a male to replace him! * The beaks of parrotfish are fused to their bones, making them VERY strong! * Many people think parrotfish eat coral, but they actually eat the algae which grows on it. They grind up accidentally consumed coral which comes out the other end as sand! The next time you’re on a tropical beach, know you’re relaxing in parrotfish poo! In fact, they are responsible for most of the white sand we see! And that's a PARROTFISH in a MERMAID MINUTE! MERMAID MINUTE #5: Trumpet Fish are funny underwater vacuums! Learn about Trumpetfish!

01:58
Trumpet fish are long, slender fish that look like....well...a trumpet! They are harmless to humans and are fun to spot on coral reefs and grassy sea beds! Moving slowly through the water, these fish will act like a moving stick and sneak up on their prey. And then they'll use a vacuum-like method to suck smaller fish quickly into their mouths! As a way to disguise themselves in the coral or underwater plants, trumpet fish will swim vertically, or up and down, so they can blend in. They can also change colors to match the background of where they're swimming! Trumpet fish are actually relatives to the seahorse! Look at how similar their faces are in these pictures! And like seahorses, the male trumpet fish, not the female, is the one to carry the eggs of its young until they are born. That trumpet fish....such a gentleman! MERMAID MINUTE #8: Sea Anemones LOVE Clownfish! See what we're finding ;)

01:56
Sea anemones are CARNIVORES, so they eat meat like fish, crabs, mussels and worms. They sting and paralyze a passing creature floating by, and pull it into their mouth in the center of their bodies to digest it. Remember our friend Nemo? Clownfish, or Anemone fish, resist the sting of anemones by forming special, slimy mucus over them. They are symbiotic, meaning they both benefit from living together. Clownfish are protected from predators inside the stinging tendrils of the anemone, and morsels of food fall into the anemone that are dropped by the clownfish! Anemones are very beautiful. But don't touch, they STING! Anemones attach themselves to rock or coral. Be careful walking around tidepools and don't step on rocks like this one....it's actually an anemone who closed up at the low tide so it won't dry up in the sun! And that's a sea anemone in a MERMAID MINUTE! I'm Mermaid Linden, and I'll sea you next time, my little sea fans! What have you always wanted to know about our oceans? MERMAID MINUTE #14: EELS with Mermaid Linden - For Kids - Meet a Real Mermaid!

02:20
Hi, Sea Fans! Thanks for watching Mermaid Minute Episode #14: EELS! :) Please SUBSCRIBE so you always know about my WEEKLY VIDEOS! This is Mermaid Linden's Mermaid Minute Season 2, Episode #14: EELS! Mermaid Minute is my ocean educational series for kids of all ages. My wish is to provide free ocean "edutainment" for anyone with access to a computer :) Let's learn about EELS! - Eels look a lot like snakes, but they're actually fish! - There are about 200 species of moray eels and they can live to be around 30 years old - Eels can survive in fresh water and salt water, but are usually found in shallow tropical and cool waters near coral reefs and rocks - They range fro 4 inches to 15 feet in length and average about 30 pounds - They have a long dorsal fin which runs from head to tail and are one of the only fish that can swim BACKWARD! - Moray eels are carnivores and they have two sets of sharp teeth: one in the jaw, and the other in their throat - Their teeth slant inward toward their stomachs making it harder for their prey to escape - These eels have poor eyesight, but their amazing sense of smell helps them hunt! Look at those nostrils :) - Morays constantly open and close their mouths to force water part their gills, which are 2 holes behind their head. This makes them look pretty dangerous and creepy, but they're actually really shy! And that's an EEL in a MERMAID MINUTE! MERMAID MINUTE #20: MANDARINFISH with Mermaid Linden - a Real life Mermaid!

02:16
Hi, Sea Fans! Thanks for watching Mermaid Linden's Mermaid Minute Episode #20: MANDARIN FISH :) These super colorful, psychedelic fish are beautiful! They look like they popped out of the 1960's to me! Please SUBSCRIBE so you always know about my NEW UNDERWATER VIDEOS! Mermaid Minute is my ocean educational series for kids of all ages hosted by a real life mermaid, Linden Wolbert a true mermaid. My wish is to provide free, high-quality and FUN ocean "edutainment" for anyone with access to a computer :) Let's learn about MANDARINFISH!! * Mandarin fish were named after their resemblance to the vivid robes worn by Imperial Chinese Mandarin officers. * These slow-moving fish feed on small crustaceans and invertebrates and are REALLY tiny: Growing to only 2 inches, or 6 centimeters with a lifespan of 10-15 years. * They use special light-reflecting cells called cyanophores to make their stunningly bright blue coloring! * They are native to the Pacific, ranging from the Ryukyu Islands to Australia. * They can “walk” on the seafloor using their large pelvic fins. * Males do a ritual-like dorsal dance to win the affections of a female! music * To spawn, a male and female slowly swim upward about three feet above the sea floor. At their peak, a cloud of eggs and sperm are released. * The mandarin fish does not have scales; instead it produces a stinky mucous that covers its body which tastes bitter, likely to ward off predators. * Mandarin fish really look like they popped out of a 1960’s psychedelic movie. GROOVY, baby! And that's a MANDARINFISH in a MERMAID MINUTE! 02:21
Hi, Sea Fans! Thanks for watching Mermaid Minute Episode #12: KELP! :) Please SUBSCRIBE so you always know about my WEEKLY VIDEOS! This is Mermaid Linden's Mermaid Minute Season 2, Episode #12: KELP! Mermaid Minute is my ocean educational series for kids of all ages. My wish is to provide free ocean "edutainment" for anyone with access to a computer :) Let's learn about KELP! - Kelp is often called “seaweed” but it’s actually an algae ☺ - Kelp grows in cool ocean waters all around our planet. I love swimming in the giant kelp! It’s like being in a beautiful forest on land, only underwater! - Kelp is held to the bottom of the ocean with a root-like structure called a holdfast. - It floats up toward the sun using little bladders full of carbon monoxide that grow on every leaf. They’re also fun to POP! - Kelp can grow up to two feet per day, and reach 100 feet (or 30 meters) tall in the right conditions! WOW! - Over 800 different species hide, live and hunt in the kelp. Here are a few of them now! - What do ice cream, salad dressing, pet food, and chocolate milk have in common? Algin! This compound in kelp is a key ingredient in these and thousands of products we use EVERY DAY! - Sea otters wrap their bodies in kelp when they sleep to camouflage them from predators and so they don’t float away! Awwww! And that's KELP in a MERMAID MINUTE! Swimming with a Mermaid - Underwater Magic! Playing with a little girl in Los Angeles!

03:08
Have you ever dreamed of swimming with a mermaid? Experience Mermaid Linden's magical day in the pool with one of her favorite little mermaids and sea fans, with her sparkly rainbow magic tail! This amazing little girl wrote messages in the sand asking for Mermaid Linden to come play with her, and one day Linden magically appeared for a swim! The little girl even made Mermaid Linden a necklace with seahorses, pearls and seashells....such a sweet treat! We did flips, swirls, summersaults and mermaiding to our hearts' content! Nothing is more fun than making children smile :) Being underwater and being happy are two of my favorite things. Experiencing both at the same time is incomparable! Thank you for this unforgettable day in the water, little mermaid!!! Wishes do come true! MERMAID MINUTE #13: JELLYFISH with Mermaid Linden - For Kids - Meet a Real Mermaid!

02:20
Hi, Sea Fans! Thanks for watching Mermaid Minute Episode #12: KELP! :) Please SUBSCRIBE so you always know about my WEEKLY VIDEOS! This is Mermaid Linden's Mermaid Minute Season 2, Episode #13: JELLYFISH! Mermaid Minute is my ocean educational series for kids of all ages. My wish is to provide free ocean "edutainment" for anyone with access to a computer :) Let's learn about JELLYFISH! • Jellyfish really aren't made of jelly! • They are close relatives of corals! Just like a coral polyp, most jellyfish start their life out as polyps attached to rocks and reefs. From here they go through metamorphosis, (just like a butterfly) and turn into free-swimming jellyfish :) • They don't have brains, but jellies have survived on our planet for millions of years! • Jellyfish eat phytoplankton, copepods, fish eggs AND other jellyfish! Some even eat crabs and large fish! • A group of jellyfish is called a SMACK.... or a BLOOM! • The largest jellyfish can have a bell diameter of more than 3 feet and tentacles as long as 20 feet! • Some jellyfish aren’t strong swimmers, and use the current to get around, while others have really strong swimming ability. • Some jellyfish have daily migration, like the golden jellyfish in the lakes of Palau. They follow the sun across the lakes like sunflowers using the suns rays to "feed" the algae that grows inside of them. • Some jellyfish glow in the dark! Maybe I could use one as a nightlight ;) And that's JELLYFISH in a MERMAID MINUTE! Sunset Over the Ocean in Malibu (30 minutes of soothing beach waves with Mermaid Linden)

36:41
It is proven that humans are drawn to the sea and watching ocean waves and hearing their sound reduces stress, blood pressure and creates a quiet space to think, breathe and be creative. Since it is said that 70% of Americans will never see the ocean in person in their lives (I was unable to find a statistic for the whole planet, unfortunately) I decided I would provide an opportunity for you to sit on the beach beside me, and watch a complete sunset.... continuously for over 30 minutes in Malibu, California. All you will hear are the waves, a passing gull, or maybe the distant laughter of children playing in the surf ...or maybe you’ll hear the faint sizzle of the giant fireball as it drops into the sea on its next journey below the horizon. Share with someone you wish were there on the beach with you ☺ ENJOY! Love, Mermaid Linden Filmed and edited by: Linden Wolbert Soundtrack: Mother Nature Sunset over the Pacific Ocean, Point Dume, Malibu, California, USA on Thursday, October 8th, 2015.

MERMAID MINUTE #3 Learn about Crabs! Hermit Crabs, Fiddler Crabs, Japanese Spider Crabs and more!

01:59
Crabs are funny looking creatures called CRUSTACEANS. They walk sideways, have ten legs and can live on land or in the water! Using two paddles on their backside, crabs can swim surprisingly well! Crabs have two large grasping claws called PINCERS, which help them eat food, ward off predators and pinch unwanted guests! Crabs have an EXOSKELETON, or outer shell, which gives them support around their soft bodies. The largest crab in the world is the JAPANESE SPIDER CRAB. They can grow a leg-span of over 12 FEET (4 meters) ! Some crabs have very brightly colored shells. Do you have a hermit crab as a pet? Hermit crabs can live in and out of the water. What have you always wanted to know about our oceans? Now is your chance to ask a real mermaid! Let's Learn about LIONFISH! •Lionfish are gorgeous creatures, which are naturally found in the Indo-Pacific. •They are popular aquarium fish because of their beautiful colors and strange shape. •They have long, decorated venomous spines that are used to defend themselves, and to help them corner their prey. •Because their MOUTH is HUGE, Lionfish swallow their food in a single GULP! •Thanks to humans, Lionfish have made their way into the Atlantic and Caribbean, where they don’t belong. None of the animals there eat them, yet they eat almost ANYTHING that swims past them! •Lionfish can live up to 15 years, and release as many as 15,000 eggs every week, so they have lots of babies, and multiply REALLY quickly! •Lionfish have been spotted as deep as 1,000 feet, or 305 Meters in the ocean. MERMAID MINUTE #7: Cute Seals of the Pacific Ocean! Elephant Seals are really funny!

01:56
Found in the Pacific, Elephant Seals are smart and social MAMMALS just like us that love hanging out on the beach! They form colonies on land where they mate, fight for territory and bathe in the sun! Male elephant seals are called BULLS, and female elephant seals are called COWS. Males can weight over 5,000 pounds and make some really crazy noises to attract the females! On land, elephant seals get around by flopping on their bellies, yet they swim THOUSANDS of miles anywhere between Mexico to Alaska to find breeding grounds on the beaches. Elephant seals were almost lost because humans nearly hunted them all to extinction in the 1800's. Luckily they've made an amazing recovery and today there are over 150,000 of them! Anyone can go visit the elephant seals on the coasts of California, Oregon and beyond. And that's an elephant seal in a MERMAID MINUTE! I'll sea you next time, my little sea fans!

MERMAID MINUTE #21: SEA TURTLES with Mermaid Linden - Learn with a Real life Mermaid!

02:16
Hi, Sea Fans! Thanks for watching Mermaid Linden's Mermaid Minute Episode #21: SEA TURTLES :) Please SUBSCRIBE so you always know about my NEW UNDERWATER VIDEOS! Mermaid Minute is my ocean educational series for kids of all ages hosted by a real life mermaid, Linden Wolbert a true mermaid. My wish is to provide free, high-quality and FUN ocean "edutainment" for anyone with access to a computer :) Let's learn about SEA TURTLES!! * There are 7 species of marine sea turtles: Leatherback, Green, Loggerhead, Kemp's Ridley, Hawksbill, Flatback, and Olive Ridley sea turtles. * Six of these are listed as endangered, so we MUST do our part to protect them! * The leatherback sea turtle is the largest at 6-9 feet in length and up to 1,500 pounds! * Some sea turtles eat meat when they are young then become plant-eaters as adults. Others are strictly vegetarians or carnivores their whole lives, depending on their jaw structures. *You can help sea turtles by avoiding single –use plastics, since turtles often confuse jellyfish for plastic, which can kill them if they accidentally eat it. * A Mommy sea turtle will swim to the same beach where she was born, and lay 50 to 200 eggs at night, guided by the moon. Her baby turtles will hatch in about 60 days and might just be the cutest thing on earth! *Only 10% will survive to adulthood, so people all over the world are taking measures to help sea turtles by roping off beaches and creating nurseries to help them thrive from the moment they are born And that's a SEA TURTLE in a MERMAID MINUTE! 02:20
Hi, Sea Fans! Thanks for watching Mermaid Minute Episode #15: WHALE SHARKS! :) Please SUBSCRIBE so you always know about my WEEKLY VIDEOS! Mermaid Minute is my ocean educational series for kids of all ages. My wish is to provide free ocean "edutainment" for anyone with access to a computer :) Let's learn about WHALE SHARKS! * Whale sharks are the largest fish in the ocean * They can grow up to 60 feet and weigh 37 tons! * These sharks are as big as a whale! But they won't eat humans, They’re gentle giants * A whale shark’s mouth can be over 3 feet wide and is used for straining their prey like a sieve. * Their large gill slits help them filter feed and to gather oxygen from the seawater * Whale sharks live mostly on plankton and small fish, and migrate to their food sources. * Their spot patterns are unique to each animal, like fingerprints, so we can use this to identify them! * Whale sharks don’t have bones instead they have cartilage, like your ears are made from * We don’t know for sure, but we believe they can live to be over 100 years old * They reproduce starting at age 30 and have only a few offspring during their lifetimes * This makes them very vulnerable * They live in warm water (can you blame them?) * In fact, humans and habitat loss are the only threat to whale sharks * You can adopt a whale shark like I did through the Shark Research Institute and help scientists protect and learn more about these awesome creatures! And that's a WHALE SHARK in a MERMAID MINUTE! MERMAID MINUTE #10: Caribbean Reef Sharks! Cristina Zenato, Shark Dancer, does Tonic Immobility

01:55
Do you LOVE MERMAIDS? This is Episode #10 of the Mermaid Minute, the only ocean education web series hosted by a mermaid who loves science! Mermaid Linden created this for kids and anyone who LOVES OUR OCEANS! Let's learn about CARIBBEAN REEF SHARKS! One of the most common sharks in the Caribbean, these sharks are beautiful and sleek, reaching up to 10 feet (3 meters) in length. Caribbean Reef sharks DO NOT EAT PEOPLE. They feed on bony fish, stingrays and other critters on the reef. These sharks can experience something called TONIC IMMOBILITY. When their nose is rubbed by a highly trained diver in a NEPTUNIC SHARKSUIT, they go into a trance-like state! CRISTINA ZENATO, known as the SHARK DANCER, is an expert on this phenomenon and has been working with Caribbean Reef Sharks for more than 15 years in the Bahamas. Sharks love Cristina as much as she loves them! Sharks MUST be conserved, and the Caribbean Reef Shark is considered a NEAR THREATENED SPECIES. They are protected in Bahamian waters where people are taking action to educate everybody about them. I LOVE Caribbean Reef Sharks! They are beautiful, and they keep our oceans in balance. So let's learn to love and respect these beautiful creatures that we call SHARKS! And that's a CARIBBEAN REEF SHARK in a MERMAID MINUTE! I'm Mermaid Linden! Sea you next time, my little sea fans! MERMAID MINUTE #18: MOLA MOLA with Mermaid Linden - For Kids! Meet a Real Mermaid!

02:17
Hi, Sea Fans! Thanks for watching Mermaid Linden's Mermaid Minute Episode #18: MOLA MOLA and OCEAN SUNFISH! :) Please SUBSCRIBE so you always know about my NEW VIDEOS! Mermaid Minute is my ocean educational series for kids of all ages. My wish is to provide free ocean "edutainment" for anyone with access to a computer :) Let's learn about the MOLA MOLA and OCEAN SUNFISH!! * Molas are the heaviest bony fish in the world! Weighing around 1 tonne or 2,000 pounds on average, Mola Molas can grow much larger and weigh up to 4,000 pounds! * In Latin, Mola translates to Millstone, referring to their disc-like shape * They are also known as Ocean Sunfish because of their tendency to sunbathe at the surface of the water * Mola's favorite food are jellyfish, and they tend to eat LOTS of them because they lack nutritional value * People sometimes mistake their dorsal fins at the surface for sharks! Can you see why? * Sunfish usually swim 100 to 600 feet down but they have bee recorded diving to 2,600 feet underwater! * Mola Molas are harmless to humans. Their natural predators are parasites, orcas, sharks, sea lions and plastic bags.... * See how much this plastic bag looks like a jellyfish? If Mola Molas eat them, they can die. Save the Mola Molas by using only paper or canvas bags. YAY!!!! And that's a MOLA MOLA in a MERMAID MINUTE! MERMAID MINUTE #9: Ocean Currents make mermaid tails GO WITH THE FLOW! Drift Diving is FUN!

01:56
Do you LOVE MERMAIDS? Mermaid spells, dreams and tails? This is Episode #9 of the Mermaid Minute, the only ocean education web series hosted by a mermaid who loves science! Mermaid Linden created this for kids and anyone who LOVES OUR OCEANS! So what is an OCEAN CURRENT, anyway? Well, it's a continuous movement of water through our oceans, like a giant river that carries sea nutrients, creatures and all sorts of man-made objects around our planet -- including BOATS! Ocean currents are influenced by the SPINNING FORCE of our EARTH, and the magnetic pull of our MOON! Currents play a huge role in our WEATHER PATTERNS and TEMPERATURES around the globe. Currents form our OCEANIC GYRES. A gyre is a rotating clockwise or counter-clockwise pattern on the surface of the open ocean. The GULF STREAM CURRENT carries so much warm water across the ATLANTIC, that PALM TREES have grown on the west coast of IRELAND! SCUBA DIVERS get to do something called DRIFT DIVING with the currents. The current carries them all the way past a coral reef and all of the animals in it! It's PRETTY FUN!!! And that's an OCEAN CURRENT in a MERMAID MINUTE! I'm Mermaid Linden! Sea you next time, my little sea fans! What have you always wanted to know about our oceans? Now is your chance to ask a real mermaid! SUBSCRIBE below or at the end of the video to receive updates with each new episode release, or ask Mermaid Linden a QUESTION in the COMMENTS window! For example in Pubg, the gameplay is sort of slow in comparison to its two concurrents, therefore if the looting process is adaptive he needs to be also slow to be prosperous.
