Super Mario Bros. Theme feat. John Petrucci and FamilyJules Get this cover (also on Spotify!): iTunes: http://bit.ly/SMBJPitunesFJ Google Play: http://bit.ly/SMBJPgplayFJ This was a dream come true. Ernie Ball hit me up and asked me if I would like to do a video with John Petrucci this month while he was doing his tour for G3. John is one of my biggest influences of all time, I've been listening to Dream Theater for as long as I can remember and owe so much of my playing ability to his tutorials on YouTube as well as his DVD, Rock Discipline. He is one of my biggest idols of all time and getting to do this with him was immeasurably huge for me. It's so hard to even think of words to describe it here. Thank you again to Ernie Ball for their extreme generosity in giving me this gorgeous guitar and the amazing opportunity to work with John Petrucci! I hope you guys enjoy the Mario theme re-imagined by the greatest prog guitarist of our time. Usually I extend my covers to be much longer but due to John's strict tour schedule, it was difficult for him to do anymore than a minute long tune. Needless to say, he didn't need much more to annihilate this song. I'm so grateful he was able to carve time out of his busy schedule to do this. Please check out the Monarchy Series Majesty by Ernie Ball Music Man. It is a work of art and an absolute dream to play. I will be playing it a lot more on YouTube after Year 4 is over! https://www.music-man.com/instruments/guitars/monarchy-series-majesty Check out John Petrucci at G3! http://www.satriani.com/G3/ Follow Ernie Ball! https://twitter.com/ernieball If you'd like to support me, buy my music online or pledge to me on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/familyjules7x?ty=h http://familyjules7x.bandcamp.com/ https://loudr.fm/artist/familyjules7x/4tMaC Proudly endorsed by: Ernie Ball Strings (https://www.ernieball.com/) Schecter Guitars (http://www.schecterguitars.com/) Composed by: Koji Kondo Filming by: Adriana Figueroa Equipment: John's Guitar: Imperial Blue Monarchy Series Majesty Jules' Guitar: Majestic Purple Monarchy Series Majesty Interface: Axe-Fx II XL+ Mixer: Makie ProFX8 Microphone: Audio-Technica AT2020 Audio Software: Cubase 8 Video Software: Adobe Premiere Pro Video Camera: Canon Eos Rebel T3i

Forest Maze Super Mario RPG Guitar Cover

MP3: http://bit.ly/1meDm38 WAV: http://bit.ly/1n6rX0M Help me make more covers with Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/familyjules7x?ty=h Buy my music! http://familyjules7x.bandcamp.com/ https://loudr.fm/artist/familyjules7x/4tMaC So for the longest time, I thought I'd never played this game so this song was off limits until I picked it up, then I watched a speed run of it and realized that the reason this song was so nostalgic was that I DID play it! Then I had to decide if I'd make Super Mario RPG a medley for year 3 and ultimately decided against it because the medley would have to have this song but I really wanted to give it it's own video since there's so much to the arrangement. In retrospect there really isn't much to it, it's just so geniously composed that you can listen to it a million times without it draining on you. I'm glad I could finally take this one on! I decided to use the PRS in this video again since the song was in C# minor, it game me the option to hit the VI chord as a low A power chord which was helpful. I saw a lot of comments saying they like the explorer better and don't get me wrong, so do I, but know that the reasoning behind the choice of guitars a use is based on numerous things. I've been having a few breakthroughs with mixing lately! I'm starting to really be able to bring out the bass after countless comments that I need to 'turn it up'. I would like to quickly address that I've seen that comment on numerous videos by home recording artists and I have to assert that anybody who thinks that the solution to hearing bass in a mix better is to just turn it up has probably never done this sort of thing themselves. Getting an instrument to be heard better does not involve simply 'turning it up' as much as carefully applying EQ on tracks to create head room for that instrument when dealing with multi-track recording. It's something that takes a lot of practice and I'm tired of hearing about comments like these because it makes younger more inexperienced mixers begin to doubt themselves thinking that they can't do something as easy as 'turning it up'. Okay, end rant. Hope the bass sounds good. Haha! We've had some happy covers lately, think it's time to go back to one of my favorite soundtracks and hit up something darker! See ya then! Tab & Backing Track (more tabs on my Patreon!): http://bit.ly/2sW6ODg ▼HERE'S WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS VIDEO▼ I don't know. The first one was really fun and there were a lot of songs left over from it and it's something I've wanted to do for a while. The idea from the first one (seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOY-lRKTO4Q) was that I wanted to do something that forced me to do one take live on camera in a way that had never been done and that would really push me to memorize a lot. I've always been very bad at memorizing music and also overcoming recording anxiety and this kind of a project felt like the best way to hit it head on. Here were the rules I set out for this medley: 1. 50 Video Game Songs in 3 Minutes. 2. One take, no edits. 3. No songs can be taken out of their original keys. 4. No repeated IPs and no repeating ones from the first video (I know there's a few Mario games, I feel like they can be considered different though?) 5. Each melody must end with the first note of the next melody. 6. Flesh out a cohesive backing track for it. 7. Make a tab. THE BIGGEST REASON FOR THIS VIDEO, is that I was super proud of the first one I did but one of the most consistent comments was that the songs didn't have enough time. I figured 3 minutes might be a bit better but with the songs I had left over, it was almost impossible to arrange them with these rules in a way that didn't have a few songs that went on for a long time. This caused some of them to have to be cut super short like the first video. I did my best and am still proud of it. I'm very excited to play this live alongside the other one at shows since 50 Songs in 2 Minutes has been my favorite thing to play live lately. Hope you enjoy it, and if you don't, I've got more stuff coming soon. Thanks for listening! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▼▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 0:00 - Duck Hunt - Theme 0:03 - Contra - Jungle 0:08 - Paper Mario - Goomba Road 0:11 - Batman Batman (NES) - Streets of Desolation 0:15 - Shantae - Water Town 0:17 - Persona - Velvet Room 0:21 - Mii Channel - Theme 0:23 - Assassin's Creed - Theme (Ezio's Family) 0:26 - Age of Empires - Theme 0:32 - Xenoblade Chronicles - Gaur Plain 0:36 - Shovel Knight - Strike the Earth 0:39 - Super Meat Boy - Battle Lil Slugger 0:41 - Risk of Rain - Coalescene 0:44 - Bravely Default - That Person's Name Is 0:47 - Undertale - Hopes and Dreams 0:51 - Wave Race - Theme (Chorus) 0:56 - Star Fox - Corneria 0:59 - Lufia II - Sinistral 1:01 - Doki Doki Literature Club - Theme 1:06 - Yoshi's Story - Yoshi's Song 1:09 - Necrodancer - Disco Descent 1:12 - Shadow of the Colossus - Revived Power 1:15 - Punch Out - Theme 1:18 - Braid - Downstream 1:22 - Splatoon - Splattack! 1:25 - Conker's Bad Fur Day - Great Mighty Poo 1:28 - Overwatch - Victory Theme 1:33 - Rhythm Heaven - Glee Club 1:41 - Nier Automata - Amusement Park 1:48 - Touhou - U.N. Aria Awakened is Available Now! https://familyjules7x.bandcamp.com/album/aria-awakened Fuck you, Danny Baranowsky. This is some seriously unnatural shit to play on guitar. This is going to be the last Necrodancer video for a little while. I wanted to release a few of my favorites from my album and I think I'll come back and do some of the other songs in the future. I hope you guys have enjoyed these videos, I will be releasing the full album stream on Saturday for you guys! After that, I have some big plans so look out for that! Thanks everyone who has grabbed Aria Awakened. I put many days into making these songs sound the best I can with my skill set and your support is overwhelming as always. You guys are the best. Mp3/Tab/Backing Track: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bw3zCFNMofTWaXU5RVdoVGEyVWM/view?usp=sharing This came as a shower idea. Since this year I've been trying to take stupid clickbaity intelligence insulting video concepts and trying to take them further with what I do and try to make something actually cool with it, I liked the idea of doing something like this but almost felt it was too dumb. However as these past few years have been flying by and I'm making more content, I'm getting progressively lazier. Recording shorter takes, making lazier transitions, not challenging myself with fun time signatures so I set out to make a project with these guidelines: 1. 50 Video Game Songs in 2 Minutes (1:59 because, fuck it). 2. One take, no edits. 3. No songs can be taken out of their original keys. 4. No repeated game franchises since that "will make this actually entertaining" according to that one comment that keeps me up at night. 5. Each melody must end with the first note of the next melody. 6. Flesh out a cohesive backing track for it. 7. Actually make a tab for once. It was hard but these videos have always been about first and foremost me getting better as a musician and I think I learned a lot from this quick project. Let me know if you want me to do another one! I saved a few for a possible Indie Game themed one if you guys like it enough! ;) ___________________________________________ If you'd like to support me, buy my music or support me on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/familyjules7x?ty=h http://familyjules7x.bandcamp.com/ https://loudr.fm/artist/familyjules7x/4tMaC Follow me: http://www.twitter.com/FamilyJules7x http://www.facebook.com/FamilyJules7x ___________________________________________ Song list: 0:00 Pacman Original Theme 0:01 Dearly Beloved - Kingdom Hearts 0:03 Spyro the Dragon Opening Theme 0:04 Max Payne Main Theme 0:07 Fear Not This Night - Guild Wars 2 0:10 Katamari on the Rocks - Katamari Damacy 0:13 Chrono Trigger Main Theme 0:16 Dr. Wily's Castle - Mega Man 2 0:19 Myst Theme 0:22 Brinstar Theme - Metroid 0:24 Pokémon Red & Blue Opening Theme 0:27 Vampire Killer - Castlevania 0:30 Gourmet Race - Kirby Super Star 0:31 Crash Bandicoot Theme 0:34 That Long Train Ride (Plays after Ravenholm) - Half-Life 2 0:36 Secret of Mana Opening Theme 0:40 Mass Effect Main Theme 0:44 Silent Hill Theme 0:46 Doom Theme 0:49 Dam - Goldeneye 007 0:52 Metropolis 1 Kerwan - Ratchet & Clank 0:53 Minecraft Theme 0:55 Basilisk Mine Field (Act 4-2) - Ninja Gaiden 0:57 Brain Age Theme 0:58 Sonic the Hedgehog Title Theme 1:00 Halo Theme 1:02 Gwyn, Lord of Cinder - Dark Souls 1:05 Nintendogs Main Theme 1:07 Super Smash Bros. Nobuo, please hire Jack for The Black Mages. Thank you. Get this cover! iTunes: http://bit.ly/OtherworlditunesFJ Google Play: http://bit.ly/OtherworldgplayFJ NEW GUITAR! AND FINALLY A COLLAB WITH JACK! For me I always wanted to hear how this song would sound with a real black metal vocalist and I could think of no one better than Jack "ya boi" Fliegler. He knocked it out of the park. I still remember hearing the demo of the vocals he sent me and just laughing my ass off at how over the top and amazing this sounded. We're super proud of how this one came out. Jack layed down a super scooped Dimebag tone for rhythms on top of my midsy normal tone to make a quad track wall of sound for the rhythms and it sounds so cool and crunchy. Also Rich and Parecki were NOT on this track, they just helped with the video. I thought it'd be cool to have a video where it looked like a band was playing. Rich was more than happy to make his drum debut on this silly track. Still just good ol' Superior Drummer. I can't wait for the comments going "unh I like the sound of the REAL drums in this cover". I'm sure it'll happen. Anyway, it's so nice to hold an Explorer again. Hope you guys enjoy! Few games today really achieve 'work of art' quality to me, just this game is just beautiful. It's the best game about child abuse you will ever play in your life! The best part of this game to me however, was the absolutely god-like soundtrack that Mr. Danny Baranowsky composed and playing the music was an absolute privlege. It's been a while that I've had to put so much work and labor into a medley, but unlike the insanely technical parts of the Super Meat Boy Medley, the challenge here was preserving the feeling and emotion. Thanks so much everyone and I hope if you have not yet played this game, stop watching this and pick it. It's funny how when I make a medley and choose to omit a song because of whatever reason people see it as me "forgetting" it as if I just picked these songs based on memory and laid them down then. Well, I guess that actually would be impressive so maybe I should take it as a compliment. Anywho, I did this cover live on Twitch! I've been playing this series since I was about 10 with Morrowind and have been hooked on the series for a decade now. I think I tried to play it off that I never played these games so that this medley would be a surprise, but it's hard to keep that shit in for so long. A huge thank you to the people that helped me record the vocal part for the Skyrim theme. This is the first cover I've done that incorporates vocals and I thought it turned out really great. The fact that we were able to bang it out in a half an hour (including learning the parts) was insane and these guys really came through. Also this medley was a great opportunity to try out solo instruments like classical guitar, piano, and of course, ocarina (all done in one breath, hence the minor shakiness... ouch). Hopefully more ocarina to come! Hope you guys like this, it was a very ambitious project. ☺ Song List: 0:00 Call of Magic (Morrowind Theme) 1:17 Peaceful Waters 1:41 The Road Most Travelled 2:26 Reign of the Septims (Oblivion Theme) 3:29 Bloody Blades 4:06 Auriel's Ascension 4:38 Sons of Skyrim (Skyrim Theme) Arranged and Performed by: FamilyJules7X Composed by: Jeremy Soule Rhythm and Clean Guitars: Gibson Explorer Lead Guitars: Schecter Damien FR Bass Guitar: Ibanez Soundgear SR405QM Keyboard: Yamaha Portatone PSR-175 Classical Guitar: Cordoba C7 Ocarina: STL Zelda Tenor Ocarina Drums: Programmed with Toontrack EzDrummer Strings: Programmed with Miroslav Philharmonik Interface: Line 6 Pod X3 Mixer: Yamaha MG102c Microphone: Audio-Technica AT2020 Audio Software: Mixcraft 5 Mastering Software: Izotope Ozone 3 Video Software: Adobe Premiere Pro Video Camera: Canon Eos Rebel Ti1 All footage from The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is copyright ©2011 by Bethesda. I admit, it is a CRIME that I haven't done any Mega Man X yet. This medley is way overdue but I felt better late than never. The music to this game is classic, even if you've never played the game. There's such a charm to it and guitar always adds to it. No matter how many times these songs have been done as metal covers. That being said, I tried really hard to keep the arrangement as true to the songs while adding small flair to make it my own without going too over the top. Even with that, I'm pretty sure I've never spent so long on a single project on just learning the guitar parts. I would say that this medley was probably the most difficult to play that I've ever done, just beating out Super Meat Boy since this song has a greater number of songs that are blazing fast where the SMB medley had the hard riffs concentrated to two or three songs. A true challenge but I think it turned out well and I hope you guys like it! Very big projects this month, but I think with school starting up, I'm going to wind down with a slightly more obscure cover next week. Very close track to my heart and a PC game from the early 2000's. See you next week! Ever since the beginning, way back in 2010 this has been a huge request. Having only played the first DKC before, I spent a good amount of last month playing DKC2 and dug the music even more than the first one! Sure the first one had classics but this one just had SO MANY classics! This is one of the first covers that I actually didn't end it with my favorite song, but I felt like Stickerbrush is a better closer. Can you tell by my expressions what my favorite song is? It's absolutely astounding how the more I mature with mixing and mastering the more your reviews are mixed. I felt like in the beginning they were mostly all 'meh' but now I hear anything from "Perfect" to "Offensive". I guess it's a good thing that I'm always trying to make these sound exactly the way that I see it and not trying to really fix them for anyone else in particular. I feel like that's the best way to grow in anything involving art! In the last couple of months of Year 3, I'm going to be working on my lead tone since I'm generally happy with my rhythm and bass tones. We're two thirds of the way through Year 3! It's always been one of my favorites, but it's so strangely arranged for a Pokémon track. Most tracks are either in a ABC form or even just AB but never AAB like this one. I racked my brain trying to figure why it was arranged like that and why it worked. Plus the phrase structure seems so backwards with almost no pure cadences. I came to the conclusion that I simply can't wrap my head around it and the reason for it all went over my head. So, I changed some parts so that I could and furthermore make sense of it to arrange. You will see that I did keep some of the weird transitions anyway even though I found them jarring. Oh well, the original composition is always fully respected in these covers! I'm unfortunately rather sick this week. The spring bullshit finally caught up with me. Please excuse the fact that I seldom close my mouth as I cannot breathe through my nose currently and I'm a bit spacey. Don't worry, even if it looks like it in this vid I won't fall over. Still not as sick as when I did that Dr. Mario cover. Holy hell. Anyways, Just a run of the mill cover! I think my mixing got a bit better this week (that or my ears are seriously blocked) but I came to the conclusion that I need to use a different amp model for my tones as this one I'm using (Treadplate) has way too much noise and fizz on top that's muddying up the note quality. Tones are so frustrating. Haven't decided on next week's cover, but it's leaning towards a title theme that is impossible to listen to without smiling. :) Arranged and Performed by: FamilyJules7x Composed by: Junichi Masuda Rhythm Guitars and Clean Leads: Gibson Explorer Clean Guitars: PRS SE Custom 7 String Lead Guitars: Schecter Damien FR Bass Guitar: Ibanez Soundgear SR405QM Drums: Toontrack Superior Drummer Interface: Line 6 Pod HD Pro Guitar Strap: Viper Strapz Guitar Pick: CSGuitar89 Custom 1.14mm Mixer: Yamaha MG102c Audio Software: Mixcraft 6.1 Mastering Software: Izotope Ozone 5 Video Software: Adobe Premiere Pro Video Camera: Canon Eos Rebel T3i Get a 10% discount on Viper Strapz guitar straps by using the coupon code family7x over here: http://amzn.to/1bCazgX

Did you guys really want this one? Couldn't tell. Alright but seriously, I've been putting this one off until someone asked me to play it on a live stream. This song is definitely a classic so I'm glad I could give it a try. Since there is no shortages of covers of this, I took some liberty with the arrangement, but also because there isn't a whole lot going on in the song as a whole. There might have been a few sync mistakes again namely with the classical guitar stuff, but I gave mixing it sparingly another try this week to get a fuller sound. A few of you guys gave me some great constructive criticism last week and I took it into consideration, so this isn't my way of just being like, "Ah you have an opinion? Fuck you!" I do really appreciate the feedback so keep it coming! If I wasn't trying to improve, then you think I'd still be here? Anyways, hope you enjoy this! This is one of my all time favorite video game tracks and I'm actually kind of glad I waited this long to put out this one so I could have a much better quality version. I made a fairly big change in some of my tones this time around, especially my rhythm guitars. I wanted a much different sound for them to differentiate between them. It ended up being a bit airy but still remained heavy so I'm not complaining. A lot of people have covered this so I really wanted to do something different and I think I achieved that with the orchestra section. Took a lot of liberty with that! This cover is available as part of Video Game Guitar Covers Vol. 4! iTunes: https://apple.co/VGGCvol4iTunesFJ Google Play: https://bit.ly/VGGCvol4gplayFJ Spotify: https://bit.ly/VGGCvol4spotifyFJ I still remember seeing this game on a monitor at PAX West through the heavy crowd of nerds and thought, well now I've seen every genre. I would have never imagined I'd find myself enjoying a game about being a cyberpunk waifu bartender. While I'm not typically into super story driven games like this, the music stuck with me extremely hard. The aesthetic of it all was so captivating and it's a rare treat to be able to immerse in a game like this one. Though I know this game went over the heads of most, the indisputable super strength of this game was the incredible soundtrack by Michael Kelly. I got to meet him at last PAX East and he's as chill and personable as he is talented! Get your hands on this game if you're a fan of sci-fi text based adventures, and if not, definitely at least check out the soundtrack. Hope you guys enjoy this one. Street Fighter was something I really shied away from in my earlier covers since it's been done so much. I really didn't want this to sound like everyone else's cover of Ken's Theme but I still wanted to keep as much of the original as possible (even if that meant having METAL vibraphones). I even went so far as to try one of those really lame hardcore 808 drops, but it ended up getting pretty much drowned out because the bass is so heavy. Hope this still does the song justice, though. Love this soundtrack and can't wait to do more! The biggest trick with this cover was the absurd stretches for the chords. I wanted to combine the back melody of the song with the chords and it turned out to be very challenging. I've always hated using power chords all the way through a song so I'm really trying to incorporate a lot more triads and 9 and 11 chords. The bass was tough too but I think the part I was most proud of was that I was able to write a solo that really fit the song better than any of my other ones. It's all about pushing myself because that's the reason I do these videos! Try new things in hopes to get better! Maybe something a bit jazzier next week? Hm... I was extremely reluctant to do it since 1. It's not technically an original video game song and 2. It's fucking Dragonforce. But alas here we are. Caleb came into town to work on stuff with Jon and Rich and we decided to just pull this one out, ezpz. Needless to say this is probably one of the most technical covers I have on this channel now rivaling Trial of Thunder and Enmity of the Dark Lord (ironically both Danny Baranowsky, hmm). It took a lot of work to get all these solos down. I hope you guys enjoy the video game references I threw in. Can you find all four? Lemmie know which ones in the comments! It's really great to play in different time signatures like 7/8 for these covers because it really gives a different feel than just straight up 4/4. Heart of Fire is a tune that was stored in the back of my brain to suppress my frustration with the later part of the game but hearing it again made me remember that when I wasn't a complete rage case at the level, the music is amazing! I actually think it was the Super Guitar Bros. who reintroduced me to the song with their medley of it. Every cover I've ever done has been a challenge, otherwise there'd be no fun in doing them. I try to push myself with every video I do to become a better player. That being said, few covers are this much of a testament of my all together patience and frustration. If you're listening to this cover, you're listening to the fourth time I've had to record the whole thing due to my external hard drive deciding to commit a random file holocaust. Lost most of my original tones, tracks, midi rolls and the one thing that I think took the biggest hit, all my original mixing. Especially after a grueling set of finals, this cover was no picnic. I wish I still had the original tracks since I thought they were so much clearer, but a deadline is a deadline. Hope you enjoy it all the same! So I knew I had to do something big. I asked my friend Ben if he'd let me record my final cover of the year on his land. It worked out because I feel like the setting fits the song perfectly. Not only is this song one of my most requested, I feel like it fits perfectly as the final song in the year, too. Before you say it, no this is not fake. My friends and I lugged all my guitars down to the locations, then used an adapter to plug everything in to Ben's truck. The hardest part of all was just the carrying all four guitars to different spots. The actual recording went seamlessly, strangely enough. My acoustic guitars were even able to pick up the sounds from the brook with the noise gate on since the water was really fast and loud that day. Wish I had more time to mix since I spent the weekend at Connecticon, and edited this video on the car rides. However for the most part, I feel it's a fitting close. Thank you guys so much for sticking around this whole year. It's been hell sometimes, but amazing more often. I cannot believe the following that what I've been doing has rallied up. Also, my 10k sub special will go up today, so look out for that. I can't believe I've made it this far, and it's going to be really weird not uploading a video on Tuesday. However, I need a break so I'm going to cool off for a bit. See you guys around and hope you have had as much fun listening to my covers as I have making them! :D Special thanks to Ben, Kriispy, and Mikey for helping me film and record this. Final Fantasy X - "Servants of the Mountain" Guitar Cover | FamilyJules

Kimahri try too. This cover is available as part of Video Game Guitar Covers Vol. 4! iTunes: https://apple.co/VGGCvol4iTunesFJ Google Play: https://bit.ly/VGGCvol4gplayFJ Spotify: https://bit.ly/VGGCvol4spotifyFJ Many of my covers are products of songs getting stuck in my head or a desire to play a melody or riff on guitar. However it's pretty rare that I know how the cover is going to sound before laying down tracks. For this cover, I knew exactly how I wanted it to sound. I remember being at an airport and hearing this rhythm riff in my head as I was waiting for an Uber, and I thought, 'well this could really work as a rhythm guitar for a simple and soaring melody'. Having played through the Final Fantasy X HD Remaster, this time around Servants of the Mountain hit me the hardest in the whole soundtrack and it was PERFECT for the riff. In a weird way, this was one of the easier covers to arrange since it was already pretty much done by the time I sat down to track. Anyway, I really wish San Diego had some snow since it'd be a bit weird if Mt. Gagazet was rocky and green. This was the best I could do for April in Southern California at sundown. Hope you enjoy! I played it recently and I've been really enjoying it. I'm actually not a huge fan of 'beat 'em up'games but this one really caught me off guard. I highly recommend it to everyone who has an Xbox or PS3, because it's really a blast. Before you comment, I know there are mistakes in the arrangement. I took A LOT of liberty with this one, just because I love it so much and really wanted to change some parts here and there as an exercise of how much I can bend a song to still sound the same. For example, the chord progression is correct, but the actual rhythm guitar chords have changed. The one thing that was actually not intentional was the bridge harmony. I don't know why I arranged it wrong. I think I just didn't take enough time with the section because I was too excited to record the chorus riff because it's so catchy. :) Also I made a drastic mixing change. Let me know if you notice it. :) Only two more videos til my break! I'm looking forward to taking some time off so that I can plan out how to really move forward with the channel. Bravely Default - "That Person's Name Is" Guitar Cover feat. Jonathan Parecki | FamilyJules

We had time to either film or eat. We decided both. Get this cover! iTunes: http://bit.ly/ThatPersonsitunesFJ Google Play: http://bit.ly/ThatPersonsgplayFJ It sucks because when I bought my 3DS years ago, I bought Bravely Default along with it since so many people were telling me how crazy the soundtrack was. I never got around to it since I decided to start with Pokémon X first, but damn do I regret not picking this up immediately when I was done. The music to this game is absolutely amazing. Believe it or not I'm usually not crazy about turn based games but there are those rare cases where the music can always make up for it for me. Parecki was in town last month and while we were mostly working on my collab with Jack, we were racking our brains for days trying to figure out something to do since we've been friends for many many years now and still haven't done anything together on this channel. When we were trying to think of something that would satiate our love for power metal and anime chord progressions, I'm surprised it took us this long to realize neither of us had done this one yet. So glad to have him on this track and we worked super hard on it. Definitely be sure to check out his channel if you're into anime music because he is the anime cover god! Back in June I played their newest album, Endless Fantasy pretty much on repeat for three weeks straight. I've always been blown away at their ability to craft melodies that are both blazing fast and still catchy as hell. If I could, I would do guitar covers of everything they've ever done. But enough ball gargling. This last month of summer I decided to take on covers that would be really challenging. I saw Rock Club mentioned a lot and shyed away from it since it sounded absolutely insane to play from listening to it in the game. Turns out, I was not wrong. It took a long time to get all of the riffs just right even after having to ease up on timing for some stuff. I've gotta say, this song is probably the most grooving song at 200 bpm I've ever heard in my life! Arranging Anamanaguchi's work has never been even remotely easy since most of the stuff is a complete fuck flurry of chords and harmonies, but I think I did an okay job with this one considering my last few Scott Pilgrim covers were a bit off in my opinion. I'm trying to take a much more bare approach to my mixing to try and get every instrument as prominent as possible with the tones I've got. I've been taking a lot of leaps with my produciton habits this year and I usually regret it and reupload, but I'm not going to get better unless I take some risks! Hope you enjoy this none-the-less! I've got something relatively heavy and silly again for you next week. See ya then! Undertale Guitar Medley by FamilyJules Is it cool to like Undertale again yet? Is it a nostalgia game yet? Undertale was one of my favorite gaming experiences of the past 5 years and the music was probably 75% of that. I wanted to make a medley for this game the day I first played it with the month of it coming out. Snowboard Kids was a very important game for me and my friends back in the day. This medley was suppoed to be in the second N64 Medleys collection but I didn't feel the music would be all that hard. So then I gave it a try and I was floored at how difficult some of this stuff is. Still, I'm really glad I got around to it because I really love the music from this game. I don't think I've ever worked on a medley for so long, I think this one has been in the works for the past 3 weeks. It was intense, and some of the riffs I had to just let go because it needed to get finished. I made some big changes to my tone. Hopefully I can be consistant with the changes, but I guess you never know with these. Persona 5 - "Blooming Villain" Guitar Cover | FamilyJules

I preferred Kamoshida before he was bloomed tbh. Get this cover! iTunes: http://bit.ly/BloomingitunesFJ Google Play: http://bit.ly/BloominggplayFJ This was originally gonna be the first cover I did from Persona 5 since the chorus lead is probably one of my favorite melodies from the entire game. I felt that however the build up took too long to get there. For this cover I really tried to spice up the build to the choruses a bit more to the point of just like slamming my guitar a bunch. Also a few months back I watched a bunch of vids by one of my favorite electronic acts, Infected Mushroom, and they were going on and on about this vocal processor called Manipulator. I couldn't help but be curious to see what it could sound like on guitar and I think it made for a really cool effect on a lot of the leads in this. Believe it or not there are NO synthesizers in this cover! It's all effected guitar! Hope you're digging all the Persona 5! Lemmie know which track you wanna hear next! In a time where a great single player games is scarce, Bioware really stepped up to the plate with the Mass Effect series. I'm not even ashamed after all of the terrible reviews of the game because the ending "wasn't up to your expectations". I loved every bit of the game and always will. I know it's inevitable that there are going to be some ridiculous arguments over the game in the comments, but I don't even care. I will proudly say, that I am FamilyJules7x, and this is my favorite game series on the citadel. Ok, now that that's out of the way. It's been a while since I've done a cover with no electric guitars. It was fun to not have to rely on distortion and effects and just have a nice classical sound with a touch of reverb and delay. I really loved both songs so I wanted to combine them, and I think they transitioned fairly seamlessly. I tried to get the most full sound I could out of this piece. So I hope I did these absolutely gorgeous pieces justice and that you enjoy it. I hope you're not sick of them yet. This wasn't a song I was particularly super excited to take on. It wasn't really as hard a hitter for me as Life Will Change or Beneath the Mask but when I started working on it, I really started hearing the true genius of this track. I had a ton of fun playing it and changing it up and it just might be one of my favorite Persona 5 tracks now! This is probably also one of my lowest tuned covers. With the scale length on my Schecter Banshee, I was able to get down to Drop G and still have a tight sound. Something I probably would have had a bit of trouble with if I were to use my PRS. It was super fun to drop tune that main rhythm line a full octave from the original. Hope you guys dig all of the Persona 5 stuff. I lay down the track, start doing the drums, and then everything goes from there. Then there are covers that I have rattling around in my head for a long time. Ones that I have a sick idea to flesh out the song in a totally new style or way, like Snake Eater or Live and Learn. This was one of those covers. I really wanted to play around with the idea of taking a Nightwish approach to this one and could think of none other than the amazing Ferdk to help me nail the orchestraition of it. Adriana has been really working on trying new styles and with the recent stuff she was working on, I thought it would be cool to see her take on this style! I was floored hearing it after because she sounds like a totally different person from her other songs and it's perfect for this! This is a project I've been working at tirelessly for over 6 months and while I'm sure people will hate it for whatever reason, be it different style or feel, I am super proud of this one. Persona 5 - "Life Will Change" Guitar Cover | FamilyJules

If someone told me Persona was essentially Pokémon meets Inception I would have played it waaay sooner... Get this cover! iTunes: http://bit.ly/LifeWillChangeitunesFJ Google Play: http://bit.ly/LifeWillChangegplayFJ I actually haven't been playing much Persona 5 myself since I was super skeptical if I'd like it, but I've essentially watched and backseat gamed the first 80 something hours since I've been watching Adriana Figueroa play through it and the story is amazing! I'm definitely a newly born Persona fan after the release of the new game. I love the way it's so thematic and develops on the themes throughout the game. So few games have been following that as of late. With my current upload scheudle for Year 4, I realized with the videos coming out soon, this was my only chance to squeeze in a Persona cover while everyone was still hype about it and playing it. For that reason, and having to spend most of this week in LA (Sorry Twitch! That's why I've been AWOL!) 75% of this cover was done in the past two days before uploading. I arranged and laid out midi before I left but didn't have anything tracked or mixed up until Sunday so this one has been super down to the wire. Hope you guys still enjoy it and let me know if you want to hear more Persona in the future! Of course the one week I do weeb trash anime cosplay, my hairs too long to Goku... Oh well. Those were the days, when you thought graphics couldn't possibly get more lifelike. I've always been a die hard Star Fox fan, so I had to do this one. It's so over done and I told myself I was never going to do this one, but I felt like I owed you guys a more well known song after throwing last weeks obscure curve ball. It's really an amazing song and I'm glad I did it. :) This sure has been a really crazy week. I got this cover pretty much recorded and ready to go the day I released last weeks video. Which was stupid lucky because we got hit with a couple really big tornados on Wednesday, rendering me without power for three days. If I hadn't got this one done early then you might not have had a cover by me this week! I also decided to write a solo for it to give it my own interpretation on the song, so please let me know how it sounds since this is kind of a new thing. Kind of ripping off ArtificialFear though. Sorry about that bro. ;) The tornados hit my home town really hard and killed about 4 people and injured dozens. I'm okay and so is everyone I know, but my thoughts really go out the ones who've been hurt and the families of those who died on Wednesday. Massachusetts almost never sees tornados, which is why I think it hits us harder, because we are not expecting it. Thanks for the support and I hope everyone is thinking about all the people we've lost from the insane amount of natural disaster's we've seen in the US. So here's the deal with this one. A couple of months ago, one of my subscribers who has done a few remixes of my talking videos did this song. That video, by DYLZAL, can be found here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8D7hbaTPv14. Now I had never played Chrono Trigger prior to watching the video, but I loved the song so it got me to actually finally pick up the game. When I got to this, I felt it was a requirement to cover. I can imagine now though that I'm going to get even more requests for this game. Now that I've played it, I hope to give at least one other song a try in the future, but we'll get to that. I feel like I just fed the request fire instead of quenching it. Haha! As for mixing, I'm pretty proud of how the rhythm section's turning out lately. I think I have a good handle on getting a good sound with the Classical Guitar, but I'm still fighting with the leads. Had a lot of fun using the Latin Percussion expansion for Ezdrummer again finally. I really enjoyed how the classical guitar sounded on this song, I felt it gave it a much different vibe. I used some reverse reverb effects for drums before but I wanted to try it on a lead line, and I felt it worked really well for this song during the three part harmonies. Tell me what you guys think and enjoy! :) Also, yeah. Couldn't find a capo. I made this during the same week as my last year of college finals and during hell weeks for numerous other projects rendering me very little possible time to work on it. Still the time restraint gave me One day for arranging, one day for drum programming, one day for doing all of the mixing and mastering and one day to edit this beast of a video. This was because recording all of the audio took 4 days of straight recording to finish. Things didn't go to plan, namely I wish I had had more time to practice with the green screen and make sure all the shots would work with it and I wish I had more time to mix and master. Why would I do that, you may ask. Why would I give myself a week to produce a 17 minute medley with 38 songs and also incorporate techniques like green screening I've never even practiced for video before? Because if there's anything I've tried to do in these past 4 years of being on YouTube and not just with video game covers, it's push myself to my absolute potential. What you're watching is literally the best I can do given a week to put a video together and I'm not sure I can ever top this in that amount of time. Hence why I will be stopping weekly cover thus far. I'll be touching up on that in the update video coming soon. That out of the way, I had a ridiculously fun time making this. The covers in the style I was doing them started to drain on me and I had to do something different. I've been planning something like this since the very beginning of my YouTube videos as I was greatly inspired by the Mario Paint video Evolution of Video Gaming, not to mention people like Fredde Gredde who put countless songs in one video and still made it enjoyable regardless of the length. I hope this video does everything I hoped it would for you and really take you on a journey through the amazing short life video gaming has had since 1972. These past 4 years have been a journey for me and this was the best way to repay you guys in my eyes. Because of your support, I have had opportunities to do things I couldn't have ever dreamed of and even when I was worried this video wouldn't get done, or spending countless minutes I didn't have nailing a riff, I knew that this video would be my greatest thank you possible to the worlds most amazing fan base. There are no words that can possibly express my gratitude so I'll leave it just as I left this video. Thank you for playing. I'll see you guys sooner than you think. :) Arranged and Performed: FamilyJules7x Composed by: Too many to name here. The song itself had a lot of depth so arranging it was difficult, especially since there were more lead lines that I just ended up synthesizing because there was already 4 lead guitars going at once at some parts. Very fun song though. I tried playing around with the chords to give it contrast by changing tonality to major at points which I think in turn made it sound heavier. It's been a while since I've put out a really heavy song so I hope you guys enjoy this! I think most of you guys would have rathered to hear Lil' Slugger, but this one was a bit more catchier and busier musically in my opinion. Not to mention a real challenge. I knew I was in for a rough time, but hot damn. I took some serious artistic liberty with this one, changed some stuff, and pretty much made a mess of it when I looked back it. Haha! I tried to keep the mix pretty brutal since I've been depriving you guys of real hard metal. I've got a few relatively soft ones coming up, but I feel like I have the most fun doing stuff like this, so we'll see what I can dig up! Memory of Lightwaves Final Fantasy X-2 Guitar Cover

It's not much practice for playing longer portions, but luckily I've been saving this cover for just that! This song was one of the reasons I decided to do a third year of weekly covers along with I think Ecruteck. It's so beautiful and powerful, and also I think you guys might enjoy a time signature out of 4/4 for once! I spent most of my Final Fantasy time on this game since it was the only one I owned as a teenager (had the others when I was a kid still with my PS1) so you could say it really left an impact on me. Alas, I am once again unhappy with my tones. The issue with doing weekly vids along with full time school and everything on the side is that I don't get a lot of time to do what I call 'tone shoot-outs' where I just pick a bunch of tones and record over the same stuff and see which one I like best. This time I took the approach of only using one amp model for all the electric guitars. I think it worked in some ways but mostly didn't end up beneficial. I feel like it's so hard to get a lead tone that cuts without being too honky. One day, I'll have the perfect tone, one day. Just letting you all know who still despise my tones that I'm still working on it because I sure as hell aren't happy with them either. All this twitch plays Pokémon has gotten me back into the Poké-guitar cover mood again! Time to pull out some of my old jazz tones next week! Final Fantasy X - "Sight of Spira/Spira Unplugged" Guitar Cover | FamilyJules

Getting to do these videos in San Diego almost seems unfair. The beautiful locations here are endless. This cover is available as part of Video Game Guitar Covers Vol. 4! iTunes: https://apple.co/VGGCvol4iTunesFJ Google Play: https://bit.ly/VGGCvol4gplayFJ Spotify: https://bit.ly/VGGCvol4spotifyFJ This was not a song I took lightly. This song stuck with just about everyone who played Final Fantasy X and I had to do it just right if I was gonna do it at all. I went way more somber with it to give it an almost sad after thought while remaining upbeat and soulfull. The biggest thing however, as this is a very commonly covered song on YouTube, I decided I actually wanted to do it in two parts. Most if not all the covers I've seen arranged this for one guitar but I really wanted to try to capture all of the chords ringing and overtones I could to create something bigger with it. Just a nice acoustic cover for you guys this week. I made a promise to myself I'd do more like this in Year 4 and so far I'm doing a bad job of doing it consistently besides Beneath the Mask, so hopefully I'll do more like this very soon. Enjoy! I've been getting countless requests for the Donkey Kong series. My girlfriend, whose been playing a "healthy" amount of Donkey Kong Country, suggested this one. I told her sure, if I could borrow her Violin bow. Using a bow on an acoustic guitar has always been something I wanted to try. One of my favorite acoustic guitarists ever, Sergio Altamura, uses a Violin bow a lot. I found it near impossible getting a good sound out of it, however. So not sure if I'd ever do it again. But let me know how you guys liked it! :) I have to admit, this cover was especially difficult. I've transposed a lot of genres into metal, but never ambient. Coral Capers is probably one of the most beautiful songs I've decided to cover, so I wanted to take as much creative freedom as I could, without disrespecting the original. So I put some extra work into this one for you guys! Hope you enjoy it! :) Arranged and Performed by: FamilyJules7x Composed by: David Wise, Eveline Fischer and Robin Beanland Electric Guitar: Schecter Damien FR Acoustic Guitar: Fender T-Bucket 300 CE Bass Guitar: Rogue LX200B Keyboard: Yamaha Portatone PSR-175 Drums: Toontrack EzDrummer (Strings synthesized using Mixcraft) Interface: Pod X3 Mixer: Yamaha MG102c Audio Software: Mixcraft 5 Video Software: Adobe Premiere Pro Video Camera: Canon EOS Ti1

Ryu's Theme Street Fighter II Guitar Cover

The nostalgia I get from it stems back to simply always just being god awful at beat-em-up games and getting my ass kicked over and over again. I kept coming back to it though because it was always just so damn fun. I always played as Ryu, but honestly this theme wasn't my favorite from the soundtrack. The goal with this cover was to try and twist it into a way that maybe I would have liked it as a kid. Pretty much run of the mill arrangmentwise, solo, embellished repeats, all that jazz. I've never really tried adding sound clips in my covers, but I felt like if I didn't add that Hadoken it just wouldn't be the same. Hope it didn't take too much away from the song in the end. :/ I just wanna warn you guys that I'm going to be going through some very experimental tone changes for a bit while I still learn the ropes of my new Pod HD Pro. Still don't have as good a grasp on it as I do my X3, but already I'm seeing way better quality. I'm playing with different amp models for the leads, last week being the ENGL-y model, this week trying the Mesa one. I was not really a fan of the Rhythm tone this week for some reason even though I didn't change anything from last week minus a lot of post EQ since it was really fizzy. Oh well, like I said, bear with me as I figure this doohickey out. Hope you guys still enjoy it though! Next week I've got another Pokémon cover since it's been a while. See you then! If I remember correctly, it was Aquatic Ambiance from Year 1! I've been wanting to do this one for a while but I didn't want to do it too close the the Donkey Kong Country 2 medley. This song is so awesome too, it's so simple but builds so much tension throughout the whole thing! It was cool to play around with the chords with it towards the end and even try some 7-note chords in the final chorus. Now, I also chose this song BECAUSE of it's simplicity. I've been unhappy with some of the post production stuff I've been putting out on some of these and I wanted to do a cover that would be really quick to lay down the tracks so I could spend a lot of time on mixing, mastering and video editing. One of the most important and maturing realizations I've made about mixing is that you can't make something sound like something that you can't hear, if that makes any sense. Like, you can do things all day that you know other people do to make a mix sound good, but it probably won't sound good for your mix unless you truly understand why it sounds good. At least that's my experience so far with it. Hopefully in the final stretch of Year 3, I can dish out some of my best sounding mixes ever! Next week I've got a cover that everyone seemed to be covering a month of two ago, so I decided to hold off. I guess twitch watchers with see why. :) Arranged and Performed by: FamilyJules7x Composed by: David Wise Rhythm Guitars: PRS SE Custom 7 String Lead Guitars: Schecter Damien FR Bass Guitar: Ibanez Soundgear SR405QM Ocarina: STL Zelda Tenor Drums: Toontrack Superior Drummer Interface: Line 6 Pod HD Pro Guitar Strap: Viper Strapz Guitar Pick: CSGuitar89 Custom 1.14mm Mixer: Yamaha MG102c Audio Software: Mixcraft 6.1 Mastering Software: Izotope Ozone 5 Video Software: Adobe Premiere Pro Video Camera: Canon Eos Rebel T3i Get a 10% discount on Viper Strapz guitar straps by using the coupon code family7x over here: http://amzn.to/1bCazgX
