In 1918, Jonathan Reid, a doctor known for his work on blood transfusions and a former combat medic, travels to London to visit his ill mother. One night, he is attacked and bitten by a vampire, and wakes up to find himself in a mass grave. While trying to escape, he runs into his sister Mary, and, giving into his thirst, bites her and drinks her blood. Horrified, he vows to find and exact revenge on his maker, which brings him into conflict with both the Guard of Priwen, a society of vampire hunters, and the ancient vampire clans that seek to use the pandemic ravaging the city as an opportunity to increase their power and influence.
This was a weird one to edit. There is so much dialogue that it's tough to say what will be exactly relevant to the story and what won't We left as much as we could in the video, to try to make one conversation flow into the next. We had well over 20 hours of gameplay compressed down into these 5 hours. It is a really fun game, although the gameplay can be lacking. I almost feel if you were to combine this game and the Order, you would have perfection. Overall it's well worth a try. We hope you enjoy!
I had to stop around the 90 minute mark, because absolutely nothing in this game's story grabs me.It's really boring, and generic, and doesn't seem to do anything with the concept, beyond that this is the lampshade on you being so OP. The gameplay seems really generic, as well, from what little I played to try it out... It kinda reminds me of Dishonored, how everything in both the gameplay and narrative is really shallow and vanilla, and a lot of the powers seem to be there to cover up bad design, not as a genuine enhancement of the experience, and it feels lazy to use them, not rewarding...
But it definitely strokes the player's ego... Badass, supergenius, sexpot doctor, who came back from war a vampire, and is mankind's only hope, when he isn't being awesome claus, and getting all the rich, sexy ladies drooling over him. Huh... That was pretty much the real plot to Dishonored, as well, the whole save your daughter and take things back was kind of a subplot of avenging your ego. Did this game rip off Dishonored?!
Every time the word "blood" is used = 1 shot
Every time the word "vampire" is used = 2 shots
Every time Johnathan introduces himself as Dr. Johnathan Reid = 5 shots
Every time Reid bites anyone (i.e. hunter, Skal, bosses) = 10 shots
Every time Reid's maker speaks in riddles and poetries = 15 shots
Been watching y'all for a long time, probably since.... Dead Rising 1 - 2 - or 3? You guys are my go to for games cutscenes, games that I am not interested in buying due to their genre, but have a good story!
I was very much looking forward to this game, and sadly, I have to agree with you in parts. I mean, the voice-acting's really quite good, but sometimes there are just placement errors (a frantic line in a calm conversation with no sign of threat? Plus no reaction to this sudden behaviour?), and while I can easily gloss over some of the animation sequences, too many repetitions in such a dialogue heavy game (e.g. the drunk guy in the Turquoise Turtle) break the immersion a bit. And that's not even going into unnecessary dialogue/show-don't-tell/storywriting problems.
Still, there are many good points to the game. It's far from a bad game imo so far, but... I just feel there was more potential there.
Honestly, this is such a dialogue-heavy game, I'm surprised you guys managed to cut it down to less than 6 hours. As I have obviously not watched the entire playthrough, did you guys try to go a good route (aka befriending people)? I mean there's a ton of sidequests and things to unlock, so yeah. Anyway thanks :D
Definitely tried to be friendly at first, but got frustrating at times. Was tough call on cuts in dialogue, but I think for the most parts conversations will flow into the next conversations and events in the game. We tended to leave only a little bit of combat because it felt very repetitive. Good game overall though.
