You forgot to add the zoom and the character fade.

Hi, great vid! I wonder how i can make my name appear character by character but it starts as matrix lowercase font for each character and then it stops with a matrix uppercase which can actually be read.
Flat Pack FX (4 months ago)
Good question, I believe it is a limitation of the font. If you used a different font it might work. The font is designed in uppercase, so you end product will end up in uppercase. Thanks FPfx

my text isn't automatically stopping at the single letter transition like yours is around ~8 minute mark. how do you do that?
Flat Pack FX (5 months ago)
Yes, no worries. Cheers Flat Pack fx
g00d ViBeS (5 months ago)
thanks for the reply... i ended up having to do the latter to hide the rest of the trail and give the effect of stopping at the letter... thanks again!
Flat Pack FX (5 months ago)
Hi, make sure you set the end of the key frame for the letter transition to be closer to the start. You can also select the whole composition and drag it up so it ends mid way down the screen.

is this possible in cs6?
Flat Pack FX (5 months ago)
Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes this should all be able to be done in CS6!

the file is not free, he wants 10 bucks for it. thumbs down.

He's giving away the knowledge for free, and that's worth so much more than a few measly lines of code compiled together for your convenience.

... I dont know why but mine inst changing from white to green. Its green from the beginning...
Flat Pack FX (11 months ago)
Hey mate, there are probably a few things going on here. You need to make sure that you have your 'map to white' and 'map black' are set to the correct color. If that is correct make sure you do the key frame transition in the time line. Also try and highlighting the letter and using the character menu on the right to change the original color to white. Hopefully that helps you out! Cheers

what did i do wrong with this? https://gyazo.com/b11f9a9d51e6e4727e805442156d32cc
Flat Pack FX (11 months ago)
Hey Niklas, there may be a few things going on here. It appears to start well as its going down, but then kinda stops at the end. 1) Try and delete the layers where the problem starts. 2) Then take the good layers duplicate and drag across as i demonstrate @ 4.19 in the video. 3) The MOST important step is to then drag those layers down as demonstrated @ 4.36. If this is all too complicated just forget steps 2 and 3 and just continue one layer at a time as you did for the first part until you get to the bottom. Worst case send me your email and when i'm back ill email you the project file. Thanks FPfx

Hi, how come my letters are all changing at the same time and do not change from white to green separately? Basically they all change colours and scramble at the same time and they also all face out at the same time.. Sorry kinda a newb to the whole After Effects scene :p
Flat Pack FX (1 year ago)
No worries, if you copy exactly what I do at 5:25 you will be able to (duplicate control + D) like you have and then drag the layer to the right to off centre. This will delay the effect for the next layer. Keep doing this to reach the desired effect. Thanks
Keegan Hague (1 year ago)
Thank you for your speedy reply! Ye I've done step one and three but i'm not sure how one off centers the comps? So what I did was just click on the comp and push cnrtl d.
Flat Pack FX (1 year ago)
Hi Keegan, thanks for your question. Basically its hard to pin point the exact point that its not working i recommend just going back through and check your settings against the video. these points may help you 1) make sure you complete the step at 2:13 on the video. 2) Make sure you off center the comps when you duplicate them. 3) Try changing the letter as shown at 3:33 in the video. I have gone through this myself and it does work, so just double check those 3 steps. Hope that helps you out.

Hey guys, i have put some info down below for some comments on how to bend you composition. Another option is to use a similar technique in my "Double Exposure" tutorial to have it appear through your video layer. Other wise you can use the 'Warp tool' options to freely bend your comp around your scene.
Sommer Time (1 year ago)
Great tutorial. You make complicated things look so easy. 🤗 I would also like to know how to bend matrix letters around objects.
Flat Pack FX (1 year ago)
Hi Julia, You can only do simple bends in after effects option 1) You can use 'Warp' tool 2) Make your layer 3d then go to 'composition settings' -> '3D Render' options -> change your renderer to 'Cinema 4D or Ray-Traced 3D' . Then go to 'Geometry Options' and adjust the curvature (this will only be available under a video layer not a text layer). Follow the same path in my 'Netflix' tutorial from 9:15 except when you get the geometry options you will have different options available. Thanks
Taif Al Bakshi (1 year ago)
if i change the blend mode to screen and track it into my footage, will it show up?? just asking ?? :) and what if i tracked this to suppose a sofa. How can i bend it to the planes of the sofa?
Taif Al Bakshi (1 year ago)
thank you so much
Flat Pack FX (1 year ago)
Hi Taif, if you remove the black background and drag this composition on top of your footage it will show up. You can track your footage using a null object and then parent your layer to the null to track it too your scene. You can only do simple bends in after effects 1) You can use 'Warp' tool 2) Make your layer 3d then go to 'composition settings' -> '3D Render' options -> change your renderer to 'Cinema 4D or Ray-Traced 3D' . Then go to 'Geometry Options' and adjust the curvature (this will only be available under a video layer not a text layer). Follow the same path in my 'Netflix' tutorial from 9:15 except when you get the geometry options you will have different options available. Thanks
