One of the most Beautiful Songs, ever, recorded in my Lifetime, besides Dear Prudence, and Glass Onion, and Revolution 1 and 9. so many years ago! Judy Garland's voice brings me to tears. Heavy tears whenever I hear her beautiful singing! I just choke up........

Did she die?
muppetsstoogesfan1 (3 days ago)
She died on June 22nd 1969 at the age of 47 from a barbiturate overdose. Back in the 30s and 40s. All actors were under contract for studios. Once you signed a contract they basically owned you. They were working her so hard they got her addicted to sleeping pills and all sorts of other stuff.

taerup revelarmy (20 hours ago)
Dead Bricks the LGBT+ is one of the many theories behind the song, but the song is also about finding their own happiness "over the rainbow"
Dead Bricks (21 hours ago)
taerup revelarmy It is interesting, because I never knew the gay flag was based around this. I am NOT anti-gay or anything, but I do wish the message behind the rainbow was kept how it was at the time, and not forced into something gay related

I want this to be played at my funeral. I remember (I’m an actress) and in my darkest times I was doing the play “The Wizard of Oz” and I wished I could fly away and go over the rainbow. I wished I could go into oz and stay there forever. This song is so powerful, and it has so much nostalgia for me.

i've recently watch a video of queen's fredie mercury and saw how hq it is , also this is hq , they said it was because of 35mm and the scanning? but why are most of the movies in that time low quality when i watch it now?
muppetsstoogesfan1 (3 days ago)
Film degrades over time. That's why most movies from that time period don't look great. This movie was made in a very unique way. It was filmed using Technicolor's 3 dye process. There's a great little documentary on it here on YouTube. Films that were made with this process have aged really well.

i used to have a friend online. she was a victim of real life bullying and also cyberbullying. i was always the only one she really trusted. there wasn't actually much i could do to help her, but once i told her that someday everything would be better, and she just had to believe that day would come and stay strong. one day she messaged me saying that she thanked me for everything and was glad that she had me for a friend, and then she said goodbye. after that, she stopped chatting. then i knew she had done that one horrible thing because she had told me she many times before that she wanted to end it all, and that was actually the last time she was ever online. every night i just lay in bed and think about her, and i feel so sorry that i never got to show her this song and probably make her happier, show her that there really is a place somewhere over the rainbow. i hope she can find that place and be safe from all the harm they caused her during her life.

This song is so beautiful , it makes me sad even listening to it. I love this movie , and thinking about poor Toto and Dorothy are both dead now. Depressing cause I have always wanted a dog like Toto , he seems like a sweet loving animal.

One of the best scenes in cinema history. It reminds me a lot of why I love older movies so much. Everything seemed so pure and simple AND real. Movies like this should never be forgotten.
Square One (16 days ago)
Truly a classic song. The fact that everyone in this film is dead just makes you wonder if they're somewhere over the rainbow.
Brian Daleske (16 days ago)
Now this movie of the year1939 (The Wizard of OZ) was great for its time, but to me I only think it is really good. I strongly think that it is time for an updated new version deserves to be created for this generation of potential fans to see; Now in this new version there should be less singing moments going on in it, and to add the three characters that join Dorthy & her dog Toto on their journey should look a little bit more realistic. You all know the three ones the (TinMan) the (Scarecrow) & the (Cowardly Lion) these three should look like as if they might exist for real on some unknown world somewhere; First off the Scarecrow should look like a regular type of Scarecrow at first before you see him move & talk, the second is the TinMan should look like a man turned into a mostly tin metal robot, and the (Cowardly Lion) should look like a ordinary lion when it is sleeping but when he then stands on his hind legs then looks a bit differently. Plus to add I strongly feel that the character known as the (TinMan) should have a small backstory that involves his former human body form’s origin & name, and to add the character known as the (Cowardly Lion) should he should have a first name & last name for him.

I really like how in the normal world it’s black and white representing dorothy’s boring and dull life and when she gets to Oz it’s in color representing the magical and fairy tale like world Oz is.

It's sad she acted in a blackface film twice😭My childhood ruin
muppetsstoogesfan1 (3 days ago)
She didn't have a choice. Back then once you were signed to a studio they basically owned you.
Jay Taylor (20 days ago)
I can understand it being a disappointment, but she had no choice. The grown-ups made her do it, and back then doing so-called "blackface" was meant more of a compliment to black performers than as an insult. I still don't like it, myself.
