Divinity: Original Sin 2 is coming to Xbox in August, and PC players already know it’s a little bit special. This fantasy RPG won practically every award going when it launched last year, so we’re here to tell you why the upcoming definitive edition might just be the best RPG on Xbox.
Oh and if you want to team up with Sir Lora the squirrel knight and his badass skeleton cat, make sure to pre-order the game. You can download a 3-hour free trial right now from the Xbox store, and your save carries over into the full release.

Played through this game on computer and I can say it is epic. An example? You talk to a bland looking NPC in Act 1, have a small conversation. If you didn't kill that NPC, they can return in Act 2 and change conversation based on Act 1 conversations with other NPCs and accomplishments. If they are still alive by Act 3, they change further and may have become an evil npc or decide to sell cool items now or change dialog even further based on prior two acts. Get rewarded when you beat the game by learning how your decisions effected the NPC's fate... MANY NPC's may progress in the story along with you (if you let them live)
2:46 “My personal favorite: the Lizard Wizard.”
Yep, that’s my favorite too. A bright blue Mystic Scholar girl who has the hots for Ifan Bin Mezd.
Which reminds me, I need to finish my game so I can start over and record the key quests for my game movie I’m planning.
For all those people who are turned off by the turn based combat, I would still advise giving this game a try at the very least, maybe just do a trial or wait till it is on sale, as I was pretty much the same way until I tried it out on a dare. The sheer amount of content is impressive, and it would be a shame to miss out on it if the combat mechanics ended up not being as big a deal as you originally thought.
This is the most AMAZING RPG game I have ever played!!! Recommend it 100000% I lagged getting and got it once and returned it and I got it again and I just loved it this time. Reason being is because I didn’t understand it. Once you get use to it. It’s amazing... honestly
I bought it just to support more classic RPGs on the Xbox, trying to get my brother to play with me. Thought it was super cool in the tutorial how characters can notice you're a skeleton if you play as Undead.
Leon S. Kennedy I was uncertain about it too, but when i got it for the first time i sunk a good three hours into it immediately after buying. Now i have a team of friends and we play every night. I highly recommend giving it a shot!
Matt Burton It isn't fully out. You can essentially pre-order by buying the Game Preview on Xbox and play throught the entire first act as many times as you want until the rest of the game comes out next month
Discount Smaug none of the reviews highlighted the game breaking sound bug on console. Complete immersion killer but nothing in the articles I read. Therefore I'll remain skeptical on the sequel port. Shame because they're fantastic games otherwise.
Nice to see a more mature game coming to xbox; most RPG games on console are Skyrim or Mass Effect RPG games with "choices" that don't really change the way the gameplay inevitably works.
Hope this launch is a success, I've stuck with Xbox since their inception and the One X is great but the library of exclusive games isn't and while this won't be exclusive it will still be a welcome addition. I'll be skipping the trial, I know a good game when I see one.
cee kay Mass Effect is one of the best RPGs ever. The story choices not "choices" are what make an RPG. This game also has that. It's something I felt the 1st game really lacked. Gameplay should be secondary in an RPG to story and the 1st game was a bit weak on story and story choices. I'm glad they've worked on that.
There is no Dungeon Master mode on console version of the game. Larian said they won't release it on console because the huge number of menus the DM has to navigate on a controller slows the game down so much that it is just not fun for the other players.
STACY BURK For one it isn’t top down, you’ve been misinformed. Divinity Original Sin 2 is a much better RPG then Skyrim, your choices have weight, and based on your race different people will react differently to you.
Hey buddy, not every game is an edgy first person shooter. This game is among my top favorites and I’m not usually one for turn based. You can decide to buy the game or not but there’s no need to be a fuckwit about it. It’s a better RPG then anything Bethesda is making.
Golosix thats my point. Turn based is still turn based to me. I know its more intuitive, but it still feels the same to me. It looks amazing, but i wish the combat was a bit more action driven. I'll Still give it a try. Maybe ill get a d&d feel from it who knows
These two idiots ( ^^^ ) aren't smart enough to comprehend what's going on, or they're just trolls wanting to insult you (Dallis Nowicki). She's wearing a tank top and is kind of bouncing up and down....enough that her...assets are jiggling up and down. There's no way this isn't intentional and no way would she not know this is happening and that guys will watch the video because of them (more so than the game). Views generate revenue on YouTube. Smarten up, Hypergen and Big Cow Productions!
James Hatton Just remember that each race has good and bad traits, and not like Bethesda’s basic racial traits. NPCs react differently to your race, and some quests and interactions are locked off from certain races. Each race also has certain skills that they start with, so pick your party carefully. If you decide to play as a Lizard the first play through I highly suggest playing the game again as a different race.
Well divinity is actually a much lager franchise, with this game beeing game number 6 or 7 depending if you count the stratagy spinoff.
The story ist set between Divine Divinity and behond Divinity, but stands on its own
Homeless Emperor I enjoyed the game. I hate turn based but I guess it lured me in like Knights of thee Old Republic did on original Xbox. I enjoyed the lore and depth could make with my character. Kinda like a visual D&D
Lol, this game is amazing, so I think they made the right choice. One of the best, of not the best rpg game ever created. Especially the first one too. These games dont hold your hand and can be extremely challenging if you so desire.
UnlimitedProduction1 ohhh nooo noo buddy please don’t miss out on such a masterpiece because of the fighting system. It’s really not bad at all. I like diablos fighting system and never really like turn based, but now I’m getting more and more interested because of games like these.
Agumon5 it depends on taste. The vast majority of games are the same but the few that are different are very different. Xbox is the online console and it's the better of the 2 for shared experiences. Not to mention Xbox doesn't sell outside of NA and JRPGs are an... acquired taste to most people in NA.
