This video is ridiculous. The only real time the US victory of the revolution is the time between the revolution itself and the Vietnam war. After the Vietnam war. After that the American revolution no longer matters to the world

April 22 1778 - sailors and Marines of the US Ranger landed in Whitehaven, England, and proceeded to burn the shipping vessels and warehouses in the harbor. The shore battery was taken and silenced. The raid is to this day immortalized by the statue of a US Marine spiking a British cannon. RIP John Paul Jones

Have to give this a thumbs down due to the historical innacuracy of embracing the yankee lie that the Civil War was about slavery. The issue of slavery only became an issue after the war had already begun! The war manifested for the same reasons the War of Independence manifested as the yankees, under tyranical Abraham Lincoln, started treating the south as the British treated the colonies. The South therefore sought to secede (a right granted in the constitution) however the yankees said "not happening" thereby waging an unconstitutional and unjust war against the south while proving to be the unAmerican tyrants the South perceived them as. Do not take my word for it. You all have the internet. See for yourself if it is not true. The proof is out there.
ladieslilbitch (1 month ago)
That is not possible since I was actually indoctrinated with the yankee lies since my family moved out from the South when I was young. It was later when I did my own research that I found out the truth and it is convincing. Perhaps you have only read that which is not convincing. I have in my posession much of what is. The South does not seek to downplay aspects of the war. No one in the south claims that slavery did not exist and few would claim that it was ok to exist. We are however adamant in that the war was NOT due to slavery and I have already given proof for that comes straight out of the horses mouth called Abe, after all the north had slaves too but those were NOT abolished when he abolished it for the south. I notice you do not even address one of the MANY VALID points I have made and that is because you cannot argue against them. I have in fact won this argument as any philosopher can witness. It is the north that downplays the south every chance they get, even deliberately portraying us as stupid and inbred in their movies, which is far from the case. If you will believe the Northern lies about the civil war you might as well believe what they say about us in Hollywood as well and be as ignorant as you proclaim us to be. My offer to send you proof remains however I can tell you are far from eagar to look at it proving you already know what I say is true but for some reason or another have a stubborn vested interest in denying it... and what argument can you provide? Can you say Abe did not say the war was not about slavery? No, because he did! End of story. Case closed. Case dismissed. The South wins this case even if they did not win the war. The south was fighting justly whereas the north unjustly. That is the point we are making and have proven. After all, Abraham himself agrees so who are you to argue further but the epitome of fools? Even the foolish are counted wise when they remain silent. And if you say anything further you can count on me NOT responding to it or even reading it for you have had ample opportunity to counter argue but have provided none proving you truly have nothing to say and it is equally true that when you realize you are talking with a fool you are somewhat of a fool too if you continue talking with them for the wise speak with the wise not the foolish. Deo Vindice!
John D Ruddy (1 month ago)
ladieslilbitch is it not possible that you have been indoctrinated by the Southern Lost Cause narrative which deliberately sought to downplay many aspects of the Civil War? I've read a lot into this narrative. It's not convincing.
ladieslilbitch (1 month ago)
In essence it should however the world has been indoctrinated with yankee lies and most people do not like changing their ideas even if wrong. Also, you may be too proud to admit now that you have made an error in your video. Of course, altering it correctly will be better than leaving it there for others to see and recognize as false. If you are truly looking at this objecctively I would like to send you some links to peruse and consider.
John D Ruddy (1 month ago)
ladieslilbitch I'm not a yankee. I'm not even from America! I'd imagine that would give me a much more objective view on the whole thing...
ladieslilbitch (1 month ago)
There is no proof that the earth is flat. There are only unfounded theories to support that. There is PROOF that the Civil War was not about slavery. The South had the constitutional right to secede and the reasons for doing so predated the abolishment of slavery which Lincoln hypocritically came up with only for the South as a means to cause an uprising. I give credit and criticism where it is due, hoss. No country is perfect. The original Dixie Land song has 85% shit lyrics but the Civil War was not about slavery: again, obviously so since the Yankees already started aggressions towards the South prior to its abolishment. Sure, after it was abolished it was added to the list of grievances however it was not a cause for the war would have been, and already was being, waged had salvery never been abolished. You need to do objective research before blabbing canned yankee lies. The reason the South chose to secede are for the same reasons we all seceded from the British Empire. THAT is the truth. Unfair taxation, unfair represenation in government, constant and escelated infringments upon liberties. Only the Yanks were worse than the Brits because the British did NOT have a constitution giving the colonies the right to secede so they could call Americans traitors but no such claim can be made of the South. The Yankees betrayed the South by refusing them their constitutional right to secede. I could go on but like I said the proof is out there. Clearly you have no interest in proof but only in supporting Yankee deception and rhetoric. Even Lincoln said the war was NOT about slavery. I think we will take Abe's word over yours even if we won't take Jefferson's word over Abe's (which any sensible man would). Remember, the victors write history and it is the victors who are more likely to rephrame that history to the benefit of their own image. You already (unfairly) won the war. At least be fucking honest about the reason for waging it and especially the fact that you had NO contitutional right to wage it in the first place. The yanks broke the constituion and so had to concoct slavery as an excuse. The war waged on the South by the tyranical North was for one reason only: "United we stand. Divided we fall". THIS was Abrahams statement as to what the war was about: keeping the country United (even if it meant shitting all over the constitution). So again, if I am going to listen to the yankee reason for the war I will go with what your fucking president said not the lot of you clowns.

Americans view the War as a Revolution, not as much as an independence movement. If you read the Declaration of Independence you’d see the Americans were fighting to overthrow their former system of government. The document was primarily an indictment of King George III. There was only a small portion denouncing the British people.

As an American, I must thank Great Britain for providing me with the most universal language in the world. We had strong fights in the past and my ancestor Justin was in the Revolution (on our side), but if it wasn't for Britain, our world would be very different. Not only for the US but for everyone. I know the world enjoys the fruits of America today, but we would be unrecognizable without Britain. Despite our rocky past, Great Britain is engrained in America. As an American Citizen, I would do all I can in the future to hold our friendship with GB. We were once enemies, but we had to overcome extreme hardship to form a close friendship. What better nation to fight with during the World Wars but with GB. I am just in awe of our history. Bitter at first, but sealed in an unbreakable bond since. You all gave us our language! We speak the Queen's language...with a few tweaks :) Anyway, I am fascinated with our history and if need be, in the future, I will fight to the end to keep our friendship with our fellow English brothers. UK & US forever! France is for another comment. We have such great love for you! Any American says otherwise...they are sorely unamerican. What a great world we live.

Mr. Mccain (3 months ago)
Us Brits: Right, we are going to have to increase your taxes because of our war to help save you. Canada: fine. Stupid "patriotic" Americans: REVOLUTION!!!!!
The Americans at the time wanted to be independent as they had been established for many years and built up almost everything in their territory all by themselves. The Americans at the time who were born in America and raised in it felt like they were American and had their own culture, the only thing they knew about the British was that they were a country that was receiving taxes from Americans. And as you'd expect, that rightfully pissed them off as they felt like they were an already established culture. Let me re-write your sentence: Brits: "We're fucked and have little money, hey America!" America: "Yea?" Brits: "Gimme a lot of your money, I need it and you're still technically mine." America: "Dude we've been established for many years now and we have built up everything here on our own. We've already had several generations here and they don't even really know who you are." Brits: "Just gimme ur money!" America: "No." Stupid BUTTHURT Brits: "THIS MEANS WAR!!!!!"

American colonists and French also suffered, maybe not as bad as the Native Americans but to disrespect the lives lost to make America independent (Americans and French) is just shitty on your part. The Native's were horribly genocided and what happened to them was truly horrible and they suffered the most in all of American history (including the slaves).

a regular youtube channel American Revolution 1773 Sons of Liberty dump British tea Share this: facebook twitter google+ PRINT CITE On this day in 1773, a group of Massachusetts colonists disguised as Mohawk Indians board three British tea ships moored in Boston Harbor and dump 342 chests of tea into the water. Now known as the “Boston Tea Party,” the midnight raid was a protest of the Tea Act of 1773, a bill enacted by the British parliament to save the faltering British East India Company by greatly lowering its tea tax and granting it a virtual monopoly on the American tea trade. The low tax allowed the company to sell its tea even more cheaply than that smuggled into America by Dutch traders. Many colonists viewed the act as yet another example of Britain’s taxation tyranny. In most American ports, the resistance group known as the Sons of Liberty scared off British tea-carrying ships by threatening their captains with tarring, feathering or worse. However, when three tea ships, the Dartmouth, the Eleanor and the Beaver, arrived in Boston Harbor and the colonists demanded that the tea be returned to England, Thomas Hutchinson, the British-appointed governor of Massachusetts, refused to permit the ships to leave. Patriot leader Samuel Adams organized the now-famous “tea party” with about 60 members of the Sons of Liberty. The British tea dumped into Boston Harbor on the night of December 16 was worth more than $700,000 in today’s currency. Parliament, outraged by the blatant destruction of British property, enacted the Coercive Acts, called the “Intolerable Acts” by the colonists, in 1774. The Coercive Acts closed Boston to merchant shipping, established formal British military rule in Massachusetts, made British officials immune to criminal prosecution in America, and required colonists to quarter British troops. The colonists subsequently called the first Continental Congress to consider a united American resistance to the British.

As far as my knowledge goes, I can't find any evidence that Britain ever granted The US it's independence as it did with Australia, Canada and New Zealand, to name a few. So the fact we didn't quash your revolution. like squashing a tomato because we couldn't smash our own people, means America is still British territory. We never ran away as Americans like to think " We defeated the greatest power in the world at the end of a bayoneted musket?. They love to boast. Ha ha ha. Yet we didn't formally Grant you your freedom either?. So technically you're all still Brits!!!. I'm sure we will honour your American citinzship and Grant you British citinzship for a small fee. Our Queen will become head of state and you can live freely as before, promise.

Cilcito 62 (3 months ago)
The Scots really kicked up the American revolution. The price of a cup of tea has been a suitable deflection. The Scots concluded the battle of Culloden on American fields. The Battle of Culloden was fought to rid Scotland of Hanovarion control. They lost in Scotland, but won in America. That's Why over half of America's founding fathers that signed the American deceleration of independence were the sons and Grandsons of Scots?. Two were even born in Scotlañd. The Scottish people blossomed in America.

Cilcito 62 (3 months ago)
John D Ruddy In reality it doesn't make any difference who won it, because America became our no1 allie. It saved the world in 2 world wars and protects the world's free nations. So in a way we still won the revolution. We planted our Heritage, culture, language, ideals, and love of freedom. So we really won the American revolution.
